Thank you everyone who attended the Summit last Friday. We hope that you had a positive and fun experience, and were able to connect with some some new friends. We look forward to hosting this event again next year.

Come join us for an afternoon of community fun at the Fall Festival on Thursday, October 26, from 12:30-2:30pm, on the blacktop. ASB students will be running a variety of games and booths for children of all ages. There will be some fun events like a soaker booth, cookie decorating, ring toss, pumpkin decorating, face painting/henna and various carnival games.

A $5 wristband gets you unlimited play, which can be purchased here. Game booths offer tickets and you can turn your tickets in for prizes! Snacks will also be available for purchase, priced from $1 to $3 each. K-5 Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

You’ll have a blast and you might even win some fun prizes!

If you haven’t completed the LCFF and Federal Impact Aid Survey yet, the paper form(s) will be sent home next week. These forms will be sent only to students who have not submitted the survey as of 12 p.m. on Friday, October 27. The paper forms need to be returned to the front office as soon as possible. The online submission is still available through the Parent Portal in PowerSchool. Simply click on the LCFF Data Collection icon located on the left side to answer two questions. For the LCFF form, please click on the LCFF Data Collection icon also located on the left side. Our annual ASB See's Candy Fundraiser is starting! Please help support Mt. Everest Academy and the ASB by participating in this MEA tradition.

Order forms are going home with students, please check with your supervising teacher. Additional forms can be picked up in the office or select the link See's Winter Fundraising Order Form. Thanks for helping us raise money to support school events like dances, festivals, and clubs!

All orders and money must be returned to MEA office by Friday, December 1st. Orders will be delivered to MEA no later than December 8th so families can pick up prior to winter break. Checks should be made out to MEA ASB. Prizes will be awarded to the top three sellers.

Our native seed library is now stocked! Please help yourselves to informational pamphlets and seeds to begin a native plant garden at home. The library is right outside the front office door. Thank you to Jenny Jilka (parent of Justin) for providing even more seeds from their home garden. If you have seeds you’d like to share, we have extra envelopes in the library for you to use. Please label the envelopes with the name of the seed and any other information you’d like to share.

The pamphlets, seed envelopes, and initial seed inventory came to us from the San Diego Audubon Society, and our library will now be registered on their site.

This school year our whole school will be focusing on Leader in Me and the 7 Habits of highly effective kids and teens. Check the Monday Message each month for the monthly focus and what you can do at home to support your child.

During month 3, we are zeroing in on Habit 2, Beginning with the End in Mind. Students will be able to describe their personal values and create a long term goal and short term steps needed to accomplish their goal.

The elementary classes and the AVID classes are doing lessons with your students in class and assigned at home.

Our elementary students are invited to participate in our annual Halloween Trick-or-Treat Parade during their weekly classes, 11:30-12:00, Oct. 25-Oct. 31. Students are encouraged to dress up. Trick-or-Treat bags will be provided or students may bring their own.

Halloween Paper Circuit Projects are available for K - 5 students in the Makerspace.

You can pick up your package starting Tuesday - Thursday at 9am to 1pm. We have a limited number of kits. One per student. Have fun and get creative.

Hello MEA families!

We are lucky to have been awarded complimentary tickets to a student matinee of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" at the Old Globe Theatre in Balboa Park! We would like to extend an invitation to our elementary students to attend. Basic details:

• Friday, December 1st from 9-12:30.
• Students with school employee chaperones will be traveling by school bus. We will meet at MEA at 9 and will return by 12:30. Please send a lunch to be stored at school and eaten after the play.
• We have a limited number of chaperone spaces to accompany our student seats. Mrs. Finney and two more staff members will be chaperoning the children.

If you want your student(s) to attend, please:.

1. Fill out the field trip form, one for each student attending. First come, first serve. Get forms from the front office or from your elementary teachers. They are due in the main office no later than Friday, October 27th. Returning the form secures your spot. (There are thousands of students on the wait list, so we will release unused tickets after this date.)
2. Agree to attend a pre-show workshop in November with the artists via Zoom (date and time to be announced).
3. Agree/disagree to have your child be photographed during the event (for Old Globe promotional purposes). We hope your child can experience the excitement of Whoville at this holiday event!

If you want to borrow SAT/ACT/AP Subject Matter STUDY MATERIALS, please visit the library, and ask for assistance to find the material to match your needs.

Whether you are a student eager to stay active with classmates and friends, looking for a safe way to learn a new sport, and/or looking to just have some fun, MEA PE is the class for you!

EACH student must have a form to participate:

Join us for a game of Corn Hole this Wednesday, during lunch, on the Blacktop.

Mt. Everest Academy students have the opportunity to reschedule their tests, outside of scheduled class time, to be proctored by a staff member in B15. Students will require permission from their class teacher, before requesting to test in B-15. Requests should be made no later than 24 hours before your requested testing time.

Sarah began last Wednesday, 10/11. She is a Computer Engineering major and a first-generation college student. Sarah will be on campus on Wednesdays:

Martin will be returning to us on Wednesday, 10/18. He is a Psychology major. He can help with English such as Essays, General College Prep, and Resume Building. Martin can be found in PALS lab on Wednesdays in room 6 from 12:30 - 2:30.

Join us for PALS , peer tutoring and schoolwork collaboration, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at MEA! PALS is available to all students in grades K-12. Elementary parents need to complete the PALS Check-in form and provide it to the PALS supervisor. This form lets our tutors know what assignment or skills you wish your student to work on while attending PALS.

Our school won a Healthiest School award again for last year thanks to our Wellness Committee and their efforts to add more wellness to our school. Take a look at our monthly bulletin boards, the wellness recordings in the the Monday Message for students and monthly whole school craft opportunities to help with mental health (The Dot was for month 2). We also had sewing classes in the Makerspace (thanks to Karen Krampe). Look for information coming soon about our popular Pumpkin succulent craft for month 3 run by Miss Shannon!
The Wellness Committee is currently seeking student Wellness Ambassadors as well as parents to join our group. Please contact Vivian Sink, vsink@sandi.net, if you're interested in joining our award winning committee!

The San Diego Symphony along with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the San Francisco Symphony announced their participation along with 95 other statewide musical arts organizations in the California Festival. Presenting some of the most innovative and compelling music from around the world for two weeks, the festival will take place from November 3-19. Participating organizations include symphony orchestras, chamber music groups, jazz ensembles, choirs and more.
