It is hard to believe that the first semester is almost over! December is a busy month!

Hello Banks Families!

During the month of December, we will practice building empathy for others. Students are learning what it means to step into someone’s shoes and imagine what life would be like for them. Empathy is a fundamental skill in developing a sense of compassion and care for others. Understanding how someone feels is necessary in bullying prevention. Students will share a little about their family culture and traditions as we compare holiday traditions around the world. We will also explore empathy in a deeper sense, as students will learn to joy of giving kindness. Students will share compliments and kind notes with one another.

Thank you to all those who donated to our Thanksgiving food drive! We were able to support every family request this year. We are so grateful for our generous Banks community. We would also like to thank those who stuck around after the Turkey Trot to help us repair our garden. This was truly a humbling experience and we couldn’t be more appreciative of the support we have from our community and from YOU! Experiences like this make our season brighter and remind us of the true meaning of community.

Hello Bobcat Families!

We have started our Middle of the Year (MOY) DIBELS reading assessment for K-3rd grade students as well as Quarter 2 Writing, ELA, and Math District Benchmarks for 2nd-6th grade students. We are excited to see the growth our Bobcats will show and who will join us for our Quarter 2 Celebration!

Our next Family Hike is on Tuesday, December 3 at 4:30. Meet at Banks at 4:15 and caravan to King Canyon Trail, 2230 W. Kinney Road. Closed-toed shoes and water bottle are a must! Everyone welcome!

Breakfast and Lunch are FREE for all enrolled TUSD students for 2024-2025. Breakfast is served from 8:30-9:00. Lunch is served as follows:

• 1st grade 11:20-11:55
• 2nd grade 11:30-12:05
• 3rd grade 11:40-12:15
• 4th grade 11:50-12:25
• 5th grade 12:00-12:35
• Kindergarten 12:15-12:50
• 6th grade 12:50-1:30

December 13 at 1:45 the 5th and 6th grade Band will perform along with the 6th grade Orchestra. On December 16 the 4th grade Violinists will perform followed by the 5th grade Orchestra. We hope you can join us!

When your child is absent from school, please call 520-908-5702 or email to report the reason for the absence. You may also report your child's absence via your ParentVue account.

Children must be fever-free for 24 hours before returning to school.

Grading day is Friday, December 20, no classes. Winter break is December 21 through January 5, 2025. Students return to class for 2nd semester on Monday, January 6th, 2025. Happy New Year!

Please join us for our annual Winter Caroling. On Tuesday, December 10, the schedule will be 5:30 3rd grade, 6:00 4th grade, 6:30 5th grade and 7:00 6th grade. On Thursday, December 12, the schedule will be 5:30 Kindergarten, 6:00 1st grade and 6:30 2nd grade.

Refreshments will be sold before and after each performance. Cookies $2 and milk $.50 cash and carry while supplies last. Remember, there will be no exit or entrance once a performance has started. Children must be checked out with the teacher.
