State Testing Schedule and Reminders (Grades 3-6)
- Students will not be allowed to wear smart watches or have access to them or their phones during testing. These items must stay at home or in their backpack.
- Students can't be signed out of school during a testing session. Please do not sign out students on their testing days as then they will not be able to complete the test and their score will be marked incomplete.
- If students miss their testing day, we will have make up days following the original testing day.
- We will provide a snack/treat for students during testing (thank you PTO), but please still send in their normal snack too.
- Although the state test is important, it is not the end all be all. We want students to do their best and be prepared but it is just a test and is not the whole picture of each child. Therefore, please do not add any extra stress or pressure to the test and treat it like any other day coming to school.
If you have any questions about testing please reach out to your child's teacher or Mr. Durham and Mrs. Coplan. For the schedule below MSAA is the alternate test given to students in our specialized classroom. Then the attached letter is from the district reviewing over the AASA tests.

Eclipse - April 8th
On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. This natural phenomenon offers a unique educational opportunity for students to learn about astronomy and the natural world. Parts of the United States will see a total eclipse, however Arizona will not be in its path.
We will experience a partial solar eclipse when the line between the Earth, Moon, and Sun is not straight. This causes part of the Sun to stay visible, making it a crescent. The eclipse will begin in Arizona at 10:08 A.M., with the maximum eclipse (70% obscuration) occurring at 11:20 AM. The partial eclipse will end at 12:35 P.M.
Solar eclipses, being rare and captivating astronomical phenomena, offer a unique opportunity for students to understand the relationship between the Earth, Moon, and Sun. They align with educational standards, provide engaging hands-on learning experiences, and allow real-world applications of scientific concepts. Witnessing the celestial occurrence offers an opportunity to experience a sense of wonder and for students to delve into crucial science principles. Solar eclipses are an exciting gateway for exploring astronomy, fostering curiosity, and nurturing a deeper connection and understanding of the natural world.
We ask for your permission so that your child can view this spectacular event safely. Please complete the information below and return this form to your child's teacher by Friday, April 5th.
If you have any specific questions pertaining what we are doing as a school please reach out to Mr. Durham or if you have questions regarding what the classroom is doing please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher.
Day of Awesomeness
The Day of Awesomeness was a success and the students had a blast! Thank you PTO for an amazing fundriaser and supporting us during this event. And, thank you to all of the volunteers who came and helped out the day of the event. We could not have done it without you!
Environmental Requests for 24-25 School Year
It is that time of year again when we start to prepare for building our classrooms for the 24-25 school year. As a reminder, it is our goal to build classes which will ensure the best learning environment possible for all students! To achieve this goal, class placements will be made by teacher teams and administration who consider group and individual needs for every placement. If you feel we need additional information regarding your child and their particular type of learning needs or environment, please complete the attached form (copies are also in the office) and return it to the front office no later than Friday, April 19, 2024. Please remember, this is not a teacher request form, it is specifically for learning and environment needs. If you have any questions please reach out to Mr. Durham. Thank you!

My School Bucks - Update
This messaging has been posted on the CUSD Food & Nutrition website and sent to all MSB users via MSB email. Beginning on March 7th, MySchoolBucks will be increasing the fee with the use of a debit/credit card to fund student accounts. We understand the increased cost to use this convenience method to prepay student accounts is not feasible for many families. When using MySchoolBucks.com platform to fund student accounts the following fees will be charged to the user:
- Funded by credit card/debit card $3.25 per transaction
- Funded by e-check/bank account $2.75 per transaction
Completely FREE method to fund your student account: School café managers at all CUSD schools continue to accept prepayment via cash or check (check made out to CUSD Food & Nutrition – school name & student name & ID# - this is the most secure way to send it into the cafeteria manager). Students or parents can bring the money to the cafeteria manager before school starts or before lunch to have that money credited to the student account for use. No fees are associated with this method.
As a note: MySchoolBucks.com account users can still monitor the transactions and balances without having use MSB to fund the account. This way you can still know student account balances and send money/check in accordingly when it gets low.
