Safford PreK-8 Community School
Family Newsletter October
March 2024
Hello Husky Families,
As the Principal of Safford PreK-8 Community School of Excellence, I am so excited to report all the growth and important accomplishments we made this year - so far!
In this year alone, we have added Mariachi, Musical Theater, Guitar and K-5 Music to our school. We have also moved to a "B" rated campus. Additionally, we have added an Honor Courtyard to our Middle School side. Academic growth and movement in making Safford a diverse and rich Community School that believes in being Kind, Honest, Yourself and a Community Member.
As we move into the State Testing time of the year, please remember that your students have learned so much this year and it is their time to shine. Your teachers will be reaching out to give you dates for the testing. On the days of testing, students will need to have had a good nights sleep, great breakfast, calm morning (with lots of reminders about how we know they are bright and active learners). While testing is a snapshot in time, a reminder at home about the importance of focus during testing will go far.
One of the best predictors of student success is being in class, on time. Students need to be in class in order to learn. While we of course allow students to make up work, they miss so much processing and interaction with peers if they miss even the beginning of the day. Please, be sure your student in class everyday.
See you all on campus and around - be sure to stop me and say hi. My door is always open.
Sincerely,
Dr. Katherine Kuhn
