Mustang Minutes
Sharing our Nashua + Mustang PRIDE
January 31 2025
Good afternoon McCarthy Mustangs!
Students recently took part in a congressional simulation at the Edward Kennedy Institute in Boston, where they had the opportunity to engage in debates and discussions about important policy issues, taking on the roles of U.S. Senators. This hands-on experience allowed them to better understand the legislative process and the complexities of policy-making, while also developing their public speaking, critical thinking, and collaboration skills. It was a memorable and educational experience that brought civics to life.
How lucky am I to be able to share more student successes in the arts? Congratulations to our elementary and middle school singers who were selected for the NHMEA All-State Elementary Honors Chorus, an incredible opportunity for students in grades 4-6. These students will represent the Nashua School District at rehearsals and a performance in Concord on April 4th, 2025. A special thank you to their dedicated music teachers for nominating them and guiding their preparation. The following 14 singers will be participating: from McCarthy Middle School, Natalia Cora, Lucy Morton, and Ayami Ross, under the direction of music teacher Steven Caporale. We are so proud of their hard work and achievement. Thank you for your continued support of our music programs—experiences like this create lasting memories and provide invaluable opportunities for our students.
About Student Safety at McCarthy
For the safety and privacy of all students, access to dismiss or communicate with your child is restricted to individuals listed in the Aspen contact system. There are no exceptions to the rule. If any changes need to be made to your contact list, please contact the secretaries directly. We do not allow visitors of any kind in the building unless they have confirmed meetings with staff. Visitors waiting for appointments or dismissals will be directed to the vestibule.
In response to concerns about privacy, we have made the decision to roll back the previous cell phone policy for students in the cafeteria. Students have been taking photos of each other, and the safety and privacy of others is a concern. Out of an abundance of caution, students will not be permitted to use their phones during lunch, as we have observed that privacy is not being respected among peers. If students need to contact you, they will be directed to the main office, where they can do so privately with support. This change will go into effect on Monday, and we know that the students will be supportive of each other.
We appreciate the feedback and support we've had from our Mustang parents.
