November 17, 2024 - Community Newsletter
Dear Monomoy Middle School Families,
This upcoming week marks our first Spirit Week of the school year! This is a wonderful opportunity for our entire school community to come together and celebrate our shared spirit. Each day will have a different theme, giving students a chance to express themselves, showcase their creativity, and build school unity. We encourage students and staff to participate and help make this week a memorable one for everyone. Let’s show our MRMS pride and have a great time together!
In partnership,
Abby Dudley
Principal
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Upcoming Days Off (11/27-11/29): Please remember that we will be off Wednesday - Friday of next week.
Special Schedule (11/26): Next Tuesday, we will have a special schedule. The Monomoy High School Band and Chorus will join us early in the day for a performance, and then we will end the day with our first MRMS Pep Rally of the year.
Open Gym: We will be offering open gym with Mr. Webster on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 7:35-8:35am during the interim between club seasons. The new club season will begin on December 9th. The library will remain open as well during the interim.
Front Office Staffing: This week there will be a changing of the guards at the MRMS front office. The wonderful and amazing Ms. Simmons will be moving upstairs to serve as the administrative assistant to the superintendent. While she will only be a short walk away, we will miss her and are grateful to all the work that she has done for us over the years. We are so excited to share that Ms. Deb Gebhart will be moving over from Chatham Elementary school to fill this important role. With her knowledge of the job, the kids, and our community we believe that the transition will be seamless.
Robotics Update: The Middle School Robotics Team competed in the Cape Cod Fall League VEX Robotics competition at Mashpee High School. The event took place over 4 evenings. MRMS sent two teams to compete against a field dominated by high school teams. The novice team led by Lamis and Parker finished in 15th place for skills and 20th overall. Our other team led by Chris and Carter finished in first place among the middle school teams and in 8th place overall. They earned 5th place in the Skills Competition beating all of the middle school teams. Thanks to Ms. Gifford for putting in all this extra time with our team!
Winter Concert: Mark your calendars for December 12th for the MRMS Chorus and Band winter Concert. This will be held at Monomoy High School and we will send a link to buy tickets as we get closer to the event.
OLD NEWS AND REMINDERS!
End of Trimester 1: Time is flying by at MRMS and the end of the first trimester is a few weeks away on December 4th. Please help support students by logging into Aspen and reaching out with any concerns.
