Falcon Update: Issue 8
Hello Fitz Families,
As Thanksgiving approaches next week, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude for everyone who has contributed to making this year special. That includes our students, families, teachers, office staff, custodians, classroom staff, SSAs, SLPs, Boys & Girls Club, ASPIRE, Project Kinship, SAPD, Kitchen staff, counselor, psychologist and anyone that has has a positive contribution to our campus and climate. We also recognize that some families may be facing challenges and may need a little extra support during this season. If you or someone you know is in need of food this Thanksgiving, please click the link below to find local food pantries that can help provide meals. Our community is here to support one another, and we hope everyone can experience the warmth and care of the season.

Treats with Traffic
"Treats with Traffic" at Fitz was a big success! Our students enjoyed connecting with the Santa Ana Police Department’s Traffic Division officers, who handed out free treats, snacks, and stickers. The event created a positive and welcoming atmosphere, fostering stronger relationships between students and our local law enforcement. Many students stopped by to grab a treat before heading home, to the Boys & Girls Club, or their ELOs, and the smiles on their faces showed just how much they appreciated the gesture. We’re grateful to SAPD for their support and look forward to more community-building events like this in the future!
Spanish Diagnostic Test
Last week, a number of our students participated in the Spanish Diagnostic Test at Fitz. This assessment helps determine the appropriate high school Spanish class for Spanish-speaking students who are not enrolled in the Dual Language Immersion program. Placement in a language class other than English supports students' progress toward meeting the A-G requirements, which include two years of a language other than English for admission to the University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU) systems. Additionally, achieving a high proficiency level in a language other than English, such as Vietnamese or Spanish, can lead to earning the State Seal of Biliteracy on their diploma or transcript, recognizing their ability to communicate fluently in English and another language—a valuable skill for college and career readiness.
