TCPS is coordinating COVID-19 vaccinations for all staff with Choptank Community Health and the Talbot County Health Department. We are excited to get the vaccination process underway in order to have our kids back in classrooms! Special thanks to Choptank Community Health and the Talbot County Health Department for their support.

The Board will hold a Public Budget Hearing on January 20, 2021 at 5:30 PM. The meeting will be virtual and live streamed. To submit written comment on the FY22 Budget or schedule to speak at the Public Budget Hearing contact Charlene Gould, cgould@talbotschools.org, by January 19th at 12PM.

The Easton High School Chapter of the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) has announced new members who were inducted in 2020. A traditional induction ceremony was not held at the time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Art Honor Society (NAHS) was founded in 1978 by the National Art Education Association (NAEA). The organization was established specifically for high school students, grades 10-12, for the purpose of inspiring and recognizing those students who have shown an outstanding ability in art. The NAHS challenges members to work to attain the highest standards in art, and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community.

The 2020 inductees to the Easton High Chapter are: Chloe Dixon, Natalie Engleheart, David Gardner, Bree Haufe, Julie Ireland, Molly Johnson, Olivia Kilbourne, Maddie Morrell, Haley Nestel, Naiset Perez, Elaina Steinly

In order to be eligible for membership, a student must maintain a 3.1 GPA, and have taken qualifying classes. The application process entails submitting two to three pieces of original artwork and one piece responding to a given prompt, such as "Shadow"; or "Onomatopoeia". A design pitch is required for each piece. They also provide one paragraph explaining who they are as an artist and why they wish to become a member of NAHS. Students attend meetings every month and must complete a certain amount of service hours relating to art. This can be done through participation in NAHS events and projects.

The club Advisor is Mr. Matthew Ghrist, Art Teacher, and the current Officers are Zoe Pochron, President; Vlad Rada, Vice President; and Elizabeth Harris, Secretary. Additional members are: Tracey Abance, Giselle Harris, William Haufe, Riley Jones, Natalie Joseph, Haley McMaster, and Charles Mueller. “As a club, we love to bring art into our everyday lives. In a typical school year, this would include decorating the halls with an Art-In or painting the media center's window with a seasonal theme,” Zoe explains. “Since we can't do that this year, we have been participating in distanced art activities such as designing holiday cards. While it has been a tough year for everyone, our members have definitely brightened it through their creativity and art!”

Talbot County Public Schools is excited to announce that the process to select the 2021 Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year has begun! Is there a teacher or member of the TCPS support staff who is truly outstanding, has made a significant impact on your family, and/or goes above and beyond in their commitment as a professional? The Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year programs are a fantastic way to recognize educators who exemplify excellence.

Any individual within the school system or any member of the community may nominate a candidate to apply to be Talbot’s Teacher of the Year or Support Staff of the Year. The nomination forms are linked below. Nominations for both Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year are due by Friday, February 5, 2021.

TCPS meal distribution resumed this week. Meal pick up is offered at all locations except Easton High School on Tuesdays and Fridays from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. for all children ages 2-18.
