Hello Wildcat Families!
As the temperature continues to drop, I wanted to share a couple of reminders.
Please be sure to send your children in with coats, hats and gloves. We have a "Child Care Weather Watch" chart that we use to help guide our decisions for outdoor recess but we do try to get the students out for at least 15 minutes each day if possible.
If you drive your child(ren) to school in the morning, please be sure they are ready to head into school as soon as they get out of the car. If students still need to get their coats, etc on once they get out of the car, it holds up the car line and keeps the staff members on duty outside even longer in the bitter temperatures. Additionally, please consider sending your child on the bus in the morning if you are not able to get here before 8:55 a.m. We must close the gate at 9:00 a.m. sharp so that our staff members can get inside to their assigned students and responsibilities.
Per the district's inclement weather plan, the next snow day will also be a traditional snow day and then any snow days beyond that will be Flexible Instructional Days (FIDs). Please be on the lookout for more information regarding the district's inclement weather plan and expectations for FIDs which will be emailed out from district office this week.
Finally, school is closed on Monday, January 20th for MLK, Jr. Day. In honor of MLK, Jr. and this day of remembrance, we are currently collecting items for the WC Food Cupboard. See below for more information.
Thank you and stay warm!

Smart Watches and Cell Phones
As we continue to see an increase the number of smart watches and cell phones brought to school, this is just a reminder that we treat smartwatches much the way we do phones. During the school day, students should focus on learning, so cell phones must be turned off and stored in their backpacks during school hours. If the children need to contact you, we have phones available throughout the building so that your child or an adult can reach you. If you need to contact your child, simply call the office, and we can get the message to them quickly. Please know that we would contact you immediately if there were a safety or medical concern.
As for smart watches, students should not be playing games or texting on smart watches while in school. Smart watches should not disrupt instruction or become a distraction to your child or others. If a student is playing/texting on their smart watch, the teacher will direct them to put it in their bookbag. If it continues to be a disruption beyond that, it will be sent to the office to be retrieved later. These guidelines allow our students to focus on their top priority -- learning -- while they are at school. Thank you for your continued support on this matter.
