Summer 2024
Greetings!
Happy Summer to all our students, families and staff members! It is my hope that your summer is one filled with rest, relaxation and enjoyment!
My first year as Superintendent in Roxbury has been such a rewarding experience. I have truly enjoyed getting to know the students, staff and families. It has been a wonderful experience to work alongside the talented staff and engaged parent community here in Roxbury. As I progress into year two, I am very excited to continue to build partnerships with an increased number of individuals.
Congratulations to all of our students and staff on completing a successful school year! I am so proud of each and every one of our students and staff members!
Regards,
Frank Santora, Ed.D.

The Student Experience
RHS Graduation
The class of 2024 is a unique group of young adults who are well posed to excel in any arena as they embark upon this next chapter in their lives. While they will be missed, it is evident that their legacy and impact on our school community will live on for years to come!
I would like to congratulate and thank Mr. Miller, Mr. Crispino, Mr. Swanson and all of the RHS faculty and staff who worked to create such a wonderful graduation experience.
EMS Step Up
On June 12, 2024 I had the pleasure of attending EMS' 8th grade Step-Up ceremony. The event signified an important milestone in the lives of our students as they prepare to transition to RHS! Aside from the distribution of a number of awards and honors to students, a number of students took to the stage and put forth an amazing musical performance. The evening also included remarks from a few students who recounted their many fond memories and experiences at EMS. I would like to thank Mr. Gallagher, Ms. LaMonica and all of the staff who organized this event.
Portrait of a Graduate Student Survey
I would like to thank the 507 students in grades 7-12 who took the time to complete the POG Student Feedback Survey. Please know that your voice matters and I will be using this feedback, in conjunction with the feedback from staff/parents in taking the next steps in assessing our POG.
...take pause to Celebrate! đź‘Ź
Students and staff pause for a picture at the April 15, 2024 Board meeting where multiple groups & individuals were acknowledged for their achievements this past Spring. Shown above are just several of those who helped make this year's Global Hi5 Expo a success, including Ms. Marcia Cordeiro pictured at the far right, the event's Director & Advisor of EMS' Multicultural Club. Click here for a full listing of all those who were celebrated at the April 15th Board meeting that evening, and click here for our students' achievements that were spotlighted at our June 3, 2024 Board meeting.
Lincoln Roosevelt Choir/Band Concert
Earlier this Spring I had the opportunity to attend Lincoln Roosevelt’s Choir/Band Concert. It was wonderful to witness our students perform with such dedication and talent. The staff leading the event did so with a great deal of enthusiasm and pride.
RHS Senior Arts Show
During the end of May, I was able to attend the Senior Arts Show at RHS. As an attendee, I truly felt as if I was attending a professional gallery opening. The various works of art that were created and displayed demonstrated the immense talent of our students. I enjoyed being able to speak with the students about their artwork as well as their plans for the upcoming year.
Lincoln Roosevelt Talent Show
I was also able to attend the student talent show at Lincoln Roosevelt School. The event enabled a large number of students the opportunity to perform various acts that displayed their interests and talents. I was particularly impressed with the confidence and poise of the young students as they took to the stage to perform in front of the large crowd of attendees.
Our Committed Staff
I would like to thank each and every staff member for their tireless efforts in supporting the needs of our students.
Autism Acceptance Virtual Art Expo
Every April schools throughout New Jersey participate in activities to commemorate Autism Acceptance Month. This year in support & recognition of students with autism spectrum disorder, the New Jersey Department of Education’s Office of Special Education gathered artwork from students across the state with autism created a virtual art expo. Nixon Elementary School students proudly have work on display in this expo given the help from their teachers Ms. Christine O'Connor and Ms. Jennifer Clark-Molnar. Click on the images below to view their artwork and tour the expo.
Roxbury’s SEL Night
In May, the district’s school counseling department, with assistance from a number of district personnel and volunteers, held an evening event that was entirely devoted to Emotional Health and Wellness. The event included educational opportunities for attendees as well as input/participation from professionals in the field who were willing to volunteer their time.

Rox-thon
Memorial Day Parade
My family and I were fortunate enough to march in Roxbury’s Memorial Day Parade on 5/27/24. Despite the threat of inclement weather, a great number of individuals were present to celebrate and commemorate this important occasion. It was wonderful to be joined by so many of our students and families in the community. Our Marching Band led the parade with such precision and talent. Thank you to all of the community staff members and leaders who worked so diligently to create such an amazing event for the community.
Superintendent Coffee
Our next Superintendent Coffee will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Nixon Elementary School Media Center. The evening will entail a discussion on our district's New Jersey School Performance Reports and the results of our Portrait of a Graduate survey for Students. There will also be time allotted for a question and answer session. We hope to see you there!
