Foods & Nutrition
Everyone eats, but not everyone makes healthy eating choices. Learn how to pick healthy foods, prepare nutritious meals and make smart food purchases.
What can you do?
In the foods and nutrition project, you can:
Discover the science behind making food and keeping it safe.
Learn about cottage food producer requirements in Minnesota.
Create a display about different methods of freezing foods.
Explore foods from cultures different from your own.
These are just some of the many ways you can participate in this project.

Leaders Council Meeting - May 2
18 members were in attendance at the May Leaders Council meeting. Renville County youth are taking on more leadership roles and that is evident during these meetings. View the attachement below for the minutes from the May meeting.

Livestock Committee Meeting
There was a lot discussed during the livestock committee meeting, from animal numbers to the new show arena.
If you are interested in serving on the show arena committee, please let the Extension office know.

Children's Garden in Residence Program kicked off!
There are 2 locations for the Children's Garden in Residence Program this year, Bird Island and Fairfax!
Both locations meet every week on Tuesday (Bird Island) or Thursday (Fairfax). The potatoes, onions and broccoli over the last few weeks and they are all looking great!

Food Stand Committee
Food Stand Committee meeting will meet June 13 at 12:00 noon.

Livestock Walk through
Members of the livestock committee and the fairboard will be doing a walk through after the County Fair 101 on June 27 around 6:30 PM
Fashion Revue - Performing Arts - Public Presentation Day
June 5 - Bird Island Cultural Centre
Do you have a talent that you would like to share?
Maybe you're a fashion icon and want to show off your latest clothing purchase or item you made!
Maybe you enjoy talking about or demonstrating something.
*Livestock demonstrations will be done at the County Fair.

Summer Programming
Super Sitters
Are you interested in becoming a super sitter? Join us as we learn hands-on activities, baby well care, and how to make healthy snacks!
Open to all enrolled youth who have completed 4th grade!
2 Class options!
Renville Community Center: June 4 - 9:30 - 2:00
Renville County Government Center - Olivia: June 5 - 9:30 - 2:00
Register by May 31.

Quilting Workshop
Are you interested in learning how to quilt, or refining your skills?
We have 2 class options!
Class 1
For youth who are 7 years or older and are a beginner.
Class dates & times are: June 3, 18, and 24 from 1:00 - 2:30
Class 2
For youth who have made a quilt before.
Class will meet on June 3, 18, and 24 but you have the option of different time slots: 3:00-4:30, 5:00-6:30 and 7:00-8:30

Youth who have completed K-3 are welcome to attend!
Locations: Buffalo Lake, Bird Island, Fairfax, Hector, Olivia, and Renville!

County Fair 101
Are you new to Renville County 4-H, or just need a refresher on the county fair? Join us on June 27 for a tour of the fairgrounds, meet the superintendents and go over important information to help make your county fair a success!

Super Sitters 2
You’ve spent some time being a super sitter, but now you want to refine and further develop your super sitter skills.
Join us as we dive deep into first-aid and how to handle difficult situations!
Open to all youth who have completed 6th grade and above

The Renville Aces toured Schneider Organic Dairy Farm by Sacred Heart and the Sacred Heart Museum this past month!
Trailblazers
The Trailblazers spend some time on Mother's Day to clean up the Birch Coulee Park!

There is a lot of Summer Programming happening this year throughout the county! These are a great way to get involved in 4-H!
