Colorado Measures of Academic Success Testing in April
In April, our 3rd through 8th grade students will take the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) assessments in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math, with 5th & 8th graders also testing in Science. Testing will occur from April 7th to April 24th, 2025.
6th, 7th, & 8th -- ELA & Math -- April 7th - April 11th
3rd, 4th, & 5th -- ELA & Math -- April 14th - April 19th
5th & 8th -- Science -- April 21st - April 24th
These assessments are a key opportunity for us to understand how your child is progressing toward meeting state academic standards. The results help us tailor instruction and develop programs that best support your child’s growth and success in the coming year.
To give your child the best chance for success, please ensure they are present on testing days and avoid scheduling appointments during this period. If an absence is unavoidable, please notify your child’s teacher or the front office, and we will work with you to arrange a make-up session.
A well-rested and well-nourished student is best prepared for a successful day of learning! We kindly encourage you to ensure your child gets a good night's rest and has a nutritious breakfast, either at home or at school. Proper rest and a healthy meal help students stay focused, engaged, and ready to do their best.
Your child’s participation is essential, as the results not only reflect their academic progress but also help us create an environment in which every student can succeed.
TSD’s website, Assessments of Learning, has a general schedule for state assessments. You can also visit TSD’s FAQs about State Assessments.

PVA Policy on Food Deliveries to School
We have experienced a large amount of food deliveries during the school day. This is very disruptive to our Welcome Center and security procedures, so we are introducing a new expectation regarding food delivery to the school. Moving forward, students will not be allowed to order DoorDash or other food delivery services to the school. If guardian would like to bring food to their children during the day, they can. However, guardians will not be able to order food deliveries for their students.
This expectation is now being fully enforced. Any food deliveries made to the school will kept in the Welcome Center, and students will be able to pick them up at the end of the school day.
We appreciate your support as we work to maintain a safe and focused learning environment. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please feel free to reach out.
Before & After School Parking
PLEASE HELP TO KEEP ALL KIDS SAFE!
With nearly 600 kids to help get safely into and out of the building each day, we want to ensure that we are all working to make this a safe year at PVA!
Please help us to ensure the safety of each child and the responsibility of the families and adults who navigate drop-off and pick-up each day by following these guidelines:
FOLLOW ALL TRAFFIC LAWS AT ALL TIMES :
- 20 MPH in a school zone when lights are flashing,
- please park in a safe location before letting your children out of the vehicle - do not drop children off in the middle of the street,
- use the designated crosswalks to cross the street,
PARKING LOCATIONS:
- use the designated parking spots in the north parking lot as much as possible,
- do not park in front of fire hydrants (state law),
- do not park within 20 feet of the crosswalk (state law)
- do not park in front of driveways or the bus entrance/exit,
- The church has asked that we NOT use their parking lot during drop-off and pick-up times.
- Please use designated areas (see map) for drop-off and pick-up
TSD and PVA leadership are developing a plan to adjust the parking/drop-off and pick-up structure for the 25-26 school year.
If you have ideas or suggestions for improvement, please join us at our monthly PCT meeting on Tuesday, April 8th, at 5:30 p.m. in the Collaboratory or email valerie.lara-black@tsd.org.

Peakview Academy Student & Family Handbook 2024-2025
Within our short time so far as a school, we have worked hard to develop systems, structures, procedures, and policies that will support our school in being the best that it can be to achieve its vision and mission. As we have developed the systems, structures, procedures, and policies, we have created a PVA Student & Family Handbook for the 2024-2025 school year. Please review the handbook as necessary.
