ALA Community Update

Community Meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 20th

On Wednesday, November 20th beginning at 6:00 pm, we will host a Community Meeting in the gym at ALA Euclid to discuss the bond and long-term planning. All community members are invited to attend. View this flyer for additional information regarding the community meeting.

SAISD Campus Food Drive

The Child Nutrition Services Department will be hosting a food drive in cafeterias across the District beginning December 2, through December 19. Donations will be accepted during the regular school day when the campus is in operation and items can be placed in the bin in the cafeteria. All collections will remain at the campus and will be redistributed to students and families in need of resources over Winter Break. Please see this flyer for more information regarding the food drive.

December 6th: 8th Annual TamALAda & Theatre Chili Night!

Save the date for our 8th Annual ALA TamALAda celebration that will be held at ALA Tech on Friday, December 6th from 5-7pm. The TamALAda is a free annual PK-12 grade event that is a time for us to connect with families, view student performances and enjoy delicious tamales. Warm tamales will be provided! Following the TamALAda, our theatre department will be hosting their annual Chili Night from 6:30-8:30pm!

Upcoming PBL Exhibitions

As a reminder, we have many PBL Exhibitions occurring this week!

• Monday, November 18 - 2nd Grade Disability Access at ALA from 5pm - 6pm in Village A, B, and C-2nd Grade Classrooms.

• Wednesday, November 20- Pre-K PBL Fall Festival Exhibition at Pre-K Playland from 4-5:30 pm

• Thursday, November 21- 3rd Grade PBL Exhibition will be held at San Pedro Springs Park from 10 am- 12 pm

Thanksgiving Luncheon Reminder

Reminder, this Tuesday, 11/19, is our Thanksgiving Luncheon! Please remember our student’s lunches are only 30 minutes long. We encourage you to arrive to ALA Euclid 15 minutes before your student’s lunch:

• Village A - 10:45 am (Please arrive at 10:30)

• Village C- 11:20 am (Please arrive at 11:05)

• Village B: 11:55 am (Please arrive at 11:40)

• Pre-K: 1:00 pm (Please arrive at 12:45)

ALA Euclid Book Fair

Mark your calendars! When we return from Thanksgiving break, from December 2nd to 6th, the ALA Euclid Book Fair will transform our library into a winder book wonderland. This is a perfect opportunity to stock up on books for your family, inspire a love of reading, and support our school. The flyers will be sent home this week as well as a message with ewallet info via seesaw—we can’t wait to see you there!

Individual Student Picture Retakes

Last week on Friday, we had our Individual Student Picture Day at ALA Euclid. If your student was not at school or if you’d like for your student to retake their picture, our retake date is December 13th. More information to come!

Book Fair Has Arrived!

The Book Fair has arrived and will be open all week for grades 4-12! The school gets a percentage of every purchase to help offset costs of running the library. Families are encouraged to set-up an ewallet to minimize the need for cash. Shoppers can also use credit cards, Apple Pay, and most tap-to-pay formats. If you feel like you have enough books at home but want to support the library and school, you can shop for a teacher, the library, or a classroom. Books make great gifts! The Book Fair will be open before, during, and after the Family Thanksgiving luncheon. More information about the hours and setting up an ewallet can be found on the Book Fair homepage.

Summer PE

Summer PE (Rising 8th Graders): All ALA rising 8th graders should plan on attending the Summer PE program June 2-5 & June 9-12. This eight day program fulfills the mandatory high school Physical Education requirement and opens our upper class men's schedules for advanced academics, fine arts, and senior level internships. This “Save the Date” reminder is intended to help our families prioritize their summer activities well in advance of summer break.

8th Grade Advisement Conferences

8th grade Advisement Conferences will be taking place throughout the month of November. Our counselors, Mrs. Martinez and Ms. Ontiveros will meet one on one with each 8th grader to review high school graduation requirements and course options for the 25-26 school year. Please be on the lookout for information coming home with your 8th grade student regarding this. Meetings will be taking place Nov. 4-19 during homegroup and “What You Need” time.

Choice Slips for Current 9th, 10th and 11th grade

The time has come for students to select their courses for the 25-26 school year. Students will be asked to complete a google form that will be sent to their SAISD email and hard copies will be sent home with students the week of Nov 18. Parents may either sign and return the hard copy coming home with your child or email a digital copy to Ms. Ontiveros at nontiveros1@saisd.net.

Updated Picture Day: December 6th

Our Fall picture date has been rescheduled for Friday, December 6. Be sure to come dressed to impress! This is the photo that will be featured in our ALA Tech yearbook. Ordering details will be sent out in the upcoming weeks.
