Meet our Faculty
Aloha Makalapa families! My name is Mr. Miyose and I am one of the school counselors at Makalapa Elementary. My spectacular counseling partner, Mr. H., was featured last month. You may see me around campus teaching SEL classes during Articulation or opening car doors at cone #2 after school to help ensure that our students get home safely each day. You may even see me at family-involvement activities such as Choose Aloha Night. When the opportunity presents itself, I also provide counseling services. Let's continue to choose love and aloha throughout the year and especially as we move into the holiday season.

Pie, Me, & Buddy Makes Three!
On 11/15/24, Grades 2 and 5 had a buddy event. We tasted 4 different pies and voted on our favorite. Chocolate came in as the favorite, with Pumpkin 2nd, Apple 3rd and a distant 4th was Cherry. We had so many families donate pies and we had about 20 parent volunteers come to assist us. We had a great time!
Grateful Tree Buddy Activity
On 11/20/24, Grades 2 and 5 teamed up together to create paper leaves with things they were thankful for written on them. Thanks for the fun activity Mrs. Sakamoto!
Running Club
The Jr. Rams Running Club has had an exciting start to their season. Students have been learning new games, skills and strategies to enhance their overall fitness. Students have also been developing a team mentality and they enjoy celebrating each other's accomplishments.
The Jr. Rams Running Club had soldiers from the 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command Joint Base Pearl Harbor- Hickam join us for practice. The soldiers led students through various military movement drills and participated in a game of capture the flag. They also answered questions about their college and career experience to help students learn about vocational opportunities available through the military.
Qtr. 3 bus application start date: 11/25/24
We will be accepting bus rider applications in the office and online for quarter 3 bus service. Come by the office, or if you'd like to apply online click the button below.
Road Safety Concern
Parking on Salt Lake Boulevard in the morning and the afternoon is illegal and highly discouraged. Parents, staff, faculty, and emergency vehicles need safe access to the driveway all day. Cars parked on Salt Lake Boulevard make it unsafe for people to enter and exit our driveway. We kindly ask our Makalapa community to be considerate of one another and focus on prioritizing safety.
