STRIVE FOR FIVE!
We have been focused on promoting outstanding attendance throughout the 2024-25 school year, and we’re thrilled to share that 93% of our students have earned the “5 and Fewer” distinction for the first trimester!
These students were recognized with their first Outstanding Attendance brag tag this week, which they can proudly display on their backpacks. Students who collect all three brag tags at the end of each trimester will be invited to a special attendance celebration at the end of the year to honor their dedication to being present!
Regular attendance is essential to every student’s success. Even a 95% attendance rate can add up to nine missed school days in a year, impacting learning over time. As we strive for strong attendance, we encourage families to help their child see the value in coming to school each day—it builds lifelong habits for academic success and personal growth. Thank you for your partnership in helping your students reach their full potential by striving for outstanding attendance!
Save the Date for our Veterans Day Concert!
Presented by our 4th Grade Eagles!
Date: Monday, November 11
Time: 2:45 pm
Location: Prairie Ridge field (weather permitting)--Bring camp chairs or a blanket to enjoy the performance (Remember to leave pets at home.)
Please invite family members, neighbors, and friends who have served in the military so that we can honor and thank them at the concert.
Our 2nd grade Eagles had an exciting field trip to the Innovation Center filled with hands-on learning and fun! They tackled some awesome math challenges, built creative structures in the building area, explored science through experiments, and enjoyed lunch together. It was a fantastic day of learning, play, and new experiences for everyone!
We appreciate everyone’s efforts to avoid taking extra days off during the Thanksgiving holiday. Just a few missed days here and there, even if they’re excused absences, can add up to too much lost learning time and leave children behind in school. Teachers will be teaching and students will be learning until Thanksgiving break begins on November 23. School will be closed November 25-29. Teaching and learning will continue on Monday December 2. Thank you for making daily attendance at school a priority.
Our annual Halloween Parade was a spooktacular success! Students and teachers alike showed off their creative costumes as they marched around the field. Thank you to all who participated and helped make this event a fun celebration of the Halloween spirit!
Our kindergarteners had a fantastic time at their Halloween Party! The classroom was filled with laughter, treats, and fun activities. Thank you to our amazing teachers and parent volunteers for making this a memorable experience for our youngest Eagles!
“We observe World Kindness Week to highlight good deeds in our communities. Acts of kindness and goodwill are common threads that bind us. This week has become globally recognized and is now widely celebrated everywhere. Participants from across the world come together to perform acts of kindness. The sole purpose of this week is to focus on the positivity that surrounds us every day. It’s a week to learn, teach, and share our kindness with others.” National Today-World Kindness Week
Students will participate in a variety of school and classroom activities to help spread kindness throughout our community.
Look for the Kindness Bingo page in Thursday folders. Students who get a bingo and return it to their teacher before Thanksgiving Break will receive a lollipop.
Students and staff will also engage in a variety of activities at school which promote kindness.
All are invited to wear a kindness t-shirt on Wednesday, November 13!
Our lunch staff got into the Halloween spirit by playing a lighthearted prank on one of our good-natured 5th graders! They prepared a “special” Halloween lunch, complete with spooky surprises. Thank you to our kitchen team for spreading some silly Halloween cheer!
We need your help to keep our school looking its best! Please remind children to pick up any trash left from snacks before and after school, especially in our play areas. A quick cleanup goes a long way in keeping our grounds welcoming and safe for everyone. Thank you for helping us show pride in our school community!
Our halls are looking extra creative this month thanks to our students' amazing InkTober art projects! Students have been working hard to complete unique drawings, showing off their creativity and imagination. Be sure to take a look at their impressive work next time you visit!
Our PE classes got a spirited twist with "Ghost Bowling"! Students had a blast knocking down “ghost” pins, working on their aim and coordination while enjoying the Halloween fun. A big thank you to our Mr. Cruise for bringing some festive excitement to our classes!
PRESley and Our Student Council members did a fantastic job representing our school at the Firestone Halloween Safe Night! They greeted children with big smiles and handed out candy to trick-or-treaters, helping to make the evening safe and fun for everyone. Thank you to our Student Council for spreading kindness and Halloween cheer throughout the community!
We are so proud of our K-2nd Eagles’ accomplishments so far this year! At our Student Recognition Assembly, awards were presented for Achievement, Improvement, SOAR, Kindness in Action, and outstanding performances in PE, Music, and Art. Congratulations to all the students recognized for their hard work and dedication—keep up the fantastic effort!
Officer Dunker presented the WOW Award during our Student Recognition Assembly. This award goes to students who go above and beyond in showing friendship, respect, responsibility, and safety at school. Congratulations to our first WOW Award recipients! Thank you for setting a great example and making our school a better place for everyone. Keep up the outstanding work!

The grade level with the most students who read 3 hours or more during the break will get an extra recess!
The class with the most students who read 3 hours or more during the break will get a special treat!
The top 10 readers in the school will receive a certificate and a book!
Dear Parents or Guardians,
Each year, we have the opportunity for your child to participate in a free, online digital library program that contains over 6,000 books chosen just for your child’s interests and reading level. This program is called myOn. Along with your child having access to the program throughout the year, we also hold fun reading competitions to encourage your child to read during our three seasonal breaks, Thanksgiving break, winter break, and spring break. The myOn program is a fun, simple way to keep your child engaged in reading each day that we are out of school, along with building excitement to reach goals that have been set for individuals, classes, grade levels, and our school overall. With each of these goals that are met, kids get to experience the joy and excitement of reaching the goal, while also increasing their reading fluency! (There are some fun incentives they can earn for each of the goals, too!)
Below are a few informational points about the myOn program that you may not yet know. Knowing more about the program can encourage your child to continue reading over our breaks.
The myOn program can either read the books to your child, which helps them hear good fluency and expression from the myOn reader, OR you can turn the voice off on the book to encourage your child to read independently or out loud to you to help them gain confidence in their independent, oral reading.
For your child to read the book by themselves, click on the arrows at the side of the page.
To have the book read to them, or for them to read along, click the play button below the book.
The myOn program provides opportunities for your child to explore topics they are interested in. There are more than 6,000 books available on myOn.
Some science texts on myOn can be used to do at-home experiments
myOn contains fiction, graphic novels, and non-fiction books so your child can choose their favorite preference
Students can choose areas of high interest for them to read books from the categories that interest them
Students who read at least 30 minutes per day at home show greater success with academics in all areas.
Using myOn builds reading stamina and fluency
Children who regularly spend time reading gain many benefits. Here are a few:
Reading exercises the brain
Reading increases vocabulary
Reading increases general background knowledge, leading to better overall comprehension
Reading sharpens the memory
Reading strengthens writing skills
Reading fosters concentration and the ability to focus
Reading is motivational
Reading reduces stress and helps you relax
Reading improves sleep
Reading increases your imagination and creativity
Reading is associated with improved mental wellbeing
Reading opens up countless new worlds for your child to explore from the comfort and safety of your home
Consider setting up a home incentive over break to motivate your child to reach the Thanksgiving Break goal of reading at least 3 hours throughout the break. This incentive does not need to be something that you buy for them. Some examples of non-monetary incentives could be your child choosing what to have for dinner one night, having a family game night, your child choosing what movie to watch, or getting to stay up 30 extra minutes past bedtime. You could also involve your child in creating a list of incentives they would like to work towards if they reach their reading goal. And, of course, celebrate any time your child reaches one of their reading goals throughout the entire school year!
Happy reading!!
