McKamy Middle School Updates

We are so excited that our school year is right around the corner! We welcomed our new staff to campus this week (photo below), and we are looking forward to seeing students and families next week. Orientation (Squire Camp) is Monday, July, 31: 8th Grade - 8:30am; 7th Grade - 10:30am; 6th Grade - 1:30pm. At Squire Camp there will be a presentation of important information in our large gym so it is best to park in the back parking lot. Students may then walk the building to check classroom locations. If you pre-purchased PE clothes, school supply kits, or spirit wear, these will be available July 31. PTA spirit wear and a limited number of school supply kits will be available for purchase (credit cards only please). Students and parents are encouraged to attend Squire Camp.

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 9. HERE is our 2023-2024 McKamy Bell Schedule. Note the LISD Middle School Bell Schedule is changing slightly on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Lastly, I'd like to personally ask for your vote for Best Public Middle School of Denton County. McKamy has been nominated again for the 9th year in the row, and we have won this honor for the past 8 years thanks to your support. Voting closes August 16th, and it only takes a few clicks.

Student schedules will be visible in Skyward Family Access at 8:00am on July 31. Please check on that date for the most current and accurate schedules. McKamy Counselors have made schedule adjustments to balance class sizes as we have had several new enrollees. Access to schedules will close again August 1, and will reopen August 8. Students should bring a digital or paper copy of their most current schedule to school on August 9.

On Monday, August 7 at 6:00pm in the McKamy Cafeteria, our PTA will host our annual "New to Community" Welcome Reception for students and parents completely new to our community (not coming from one of our LISD feeder elementary schools). Following the welcome reception, there will be a "Canvas Parent Session" in the McKamy Library 6:45-7:30pm to assist parents in learning how to access teacher Canvas sites.

If your child is entering 7th Grade, updated immunizations are required by the State of Texas before the first day of school. Your child will not be allowed to attend classes on August 9 without these updated immunizations on file. Please do not wait until the last minute to ensure your child's immunization records are updated with Nurse Kira (SalleeK@lisd.net). Note the COVID vaccine is not required.

If your student is new to LISD, a password has been assigned to your child and can be retrieved using this guide - click HERE.

Students will begin the school year using their password from the 2022-2023 School Year. Students can log into: https://lhub.lisd.net to verify they know their LISD password and can access LHUB. Students who have not updated their password since July 1, 2023 will need to change their password by August 13, 11:59pm. They can log in to THIS SITE to change their password prior to August 13.
