Homecoming Week: September 16-21
9/15/24

As we dive into the excitement of Homecoming Week, there’s no better time to emphasize the importance of school spirit and student participation. From dress-up days to pep rallies and our Homecoming football game, these events develop a sense of belonging and pride at PHS. Encouraging your child to take part in these activities can build their connection to the school, and provide an opportunity to form friendships and memories that enhance their overall school experience.
Participating in school events also has academic benefits. Research shows that students who feel more engaged with their school are often more motivated in the classroom. The sense of pride and unity that comes with being part of a larger team—whether in sports, clubs, or spirit activities—can translate into a positive attitude towards learning. This week, we would love if you could encourage your child to get involved, whether it's dressing up for Spirit Days or just enjoying the pep rallies and Oiler Fest.
Your support in promoting participation can make all the difference. School isn’t just about academics but also about building a well-rounded experience. We want to guarantee that every student feels like they are a part of our Oiler family during this fun week!
Homecoming Festivities
We’re excited to kick off Homecoming Week with a variety of fun events and dress-up days for our students! Here’s the lineup for the dress-up days:
- Monday: PJ Day – “Knock Out the Yellowjackets!”
- Tuesday: Twin Day – “Give Alvin Double Vision!”
- Wednesday: Team Jersey Day – “Team Up Against Alvin!”
- Thursday: HOCO Class Colors and Mums – “Show Off Your Oiler Spirit for HOCO!”
- Seniors: White
- Juniors: Maroon
- Sophomores: Black
- Freshmen: Gray
On Thursday, we will have an adjusted schedule (See below). During 6th period, we will have a pep rally for juniors and seniors, followed by a 7th period pep rally for freshmen and sophomores. Right after the pep rallies, we’ll head into Oiler Fest to keep the celebrations going!
There will be no school for students on Friday, but don’t miss out on the big Homecoming football game against Alvin at The Rig on Friday night at 7:00 PM.
Just a quick note: Some students that park in the Band lot on the Bullard side of PHS will need to park in the visitors' lot on the other side of The Rig on Thursday for Oiler Fest.
We’re looking forward to an exciting Homecoming Week!

A Reminder About Student IDs
At Pearland High School, student safety is our top priority. Wearing IDs is an important part of keeping our campus secure, as it allows us to quickly identify who belongs in the building. This is why wearing an ID is a key part of our school dress code, and every student has been provided with one.
Tomorrow, we will be conducting a check to ensure all students are wearing their IDs, so please help us by reminding your student to wear theirs at all times.
