We are excited and looking forward to starting our second semester with each of you. As a reminder we will have home room on Monday to pass out updated schedules and review expectations for all classes as we begin our new courses for the Spring.
Parents I would like to inform you about the Protect Our Students Act, which requires all students in grades 6-12 to view educational videos about recognizing and preventing inappropriate relationships with staff members. These videos were released by the Center for Safer Schools in compliance with Session Law 2023-128/House Bill 142 and are being shown to meet the legal requirements of the statute.
At PCHS, we value your involvement in your child’s education and want to ensure that you are informed. The videos will be shown on January 15, 2025. While the law does not require an opt-out option, we understand that some parents may have concerns about the content. We want to clarify that there is no sexual content in the videos. However, the suggestions presented may cause some students to feel uncomfortable. Therefore, we are providing the opportunity for parents to view the videos at school only or to opt their child out of viewing the video if they choose.
An opt-out form will be sent home with your student, and it will also be available online at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KDIhDY3mBpcZPMTQlhCphDHbardHyjeQGqIO2oY0x9g/edit?usp=sharing. Please complete and return the form by DATE. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the school office for more information.
