Back to School Night- Tomorrow- 9/26

Thursday, September 26th

6:00pm - 7:30pm starting in the DeSales Gym

For the parents and caregivers of students in

Preschool** and Kindergarten through Grade 8.

This is a night to meet your child's teachers, learn more about curriculum, and see your child's classroom!

Preschool** , Kindergarten through Grade 8 Parents will meet in the gym at 6:00pm for a school-wide presentation. At the conclusion of this presentation, parents of children in Preschool through Grade 5 will be invited go to their child’s classrooms while parents of middle-schoolers (Grades 6-8) will receive a schedule to follow.

**Mrs. Chase's 3 year old preschool parents will meet at 5:30pm in the Library. They are invited to come up to the gym for the school-wide presentation at 6:00pm.

This event is not designed for individual student concerns so please contact your child’s teacher should you want to discuss specific issues. Parents & caregivers only please.

Picture Day- 9/26

School photos will be taken by Lifetouch during the day Tomorrow, September 26th. Students may dress out of uniform that day. Lifetouch will provide both an online and paper form to order pictures. To order online please visit mylifetouch.com and enter Picture Day ID: EVTVT3QDX

Picture retake day will be on 11/4. Mrs. Chase's 3 year old preschoolers will have their pictures taken on 11/4 as well.

DeSales Ski Club

If you or anyone of your friends and family are interested in joining please reach out to Kevin Miller for details either through Facebook or via email kmm@takeform.net.

Anyone is welcome to join and purchase tickets. That includes friend and family. We ski at Holiday Valley.

If there is enough interest, we would love to get back to having a bus shuttle from DeSales to Holiday Valley and back. A survey will be sent to see if families want Fridays or Sundays for the bus shuttle after sign ups. The bus was a fun and safe way to travel for the kids, and moms and dads are welcome to jump on it too.

The deadline to take advantage of the discount on passes is October 31st. After that the cost of the passes goes up.

Meet Mrs. Reetz

This week we are happy to introduce you to our new technology and 6th grade Earth Science teacher, Mrs. Krissy Reetz! Having a childhood love of Astronomy, Mrs. Reetz pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Astronomy from Mount Union College in Ohio, followed by a Master’s degree in Applied Physics from Northern Arizona University. She spent the next decade doing research at Lowell Observatory and Kitt Peak National Observatory before leaving the workforce to raise her son (also a DeSales Knight!), and eventually moving back to Lockport to be closer to family. Mrs. Reetz has spent the last four years teaching STEM education at the Challenger Learning Center. During her free time, she enjoys walking her dog, working in her garden, playing board games with her family, and cheering on the Buffalo Bills. Welcome Mrs. Reetz!

DeSales Robotics Jr. & Robotics 101

Robotics club offers students an exciting way to learn about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math by learning how to code and build a robot. By programming and controlling robots, students will step into the world of science, acquiring knowledge and skills that will be useful and applicable beyond the classroom. Desales Swim Team

Congratulations to our Swim Team Knights on another awesome meet at Grand Island this past Sunday! The team has been working hard at dropping times and winning races!

The 8 & under swimmers were on fire with Isla McDonald earning Allstar times for 25 Free and 25 Back! Ally Hay and Jake Mitri both dropped times in their 25 Free. While Jake and Max Manning had HUGE drops in their backstroke times!

The swimmers in the 9/10 age group raced through the water with Joey Cassenti, Silvia Hay and Neil Solly all dropping times in the 100 Free! The 11+ age group was on fire in all events! Shout out to Robert Hathaway for earning his Allstar time for the 50 Free, Delilah Harrer for her 9 second drop in the 50 Back, Caroline Webster, and Nina Dawes for their amazing drops in 100 Free. The swim knights head to Maryvale this Sunday for their third meet of the season. Way to go Knights!

We are pleased to share that this year’s DeSales school musical will be Shrek Jr. Auditions will be held in the DeSales Music Room on Wednesday, October 16th. Students in grades 4 through 8 are invited to join the musical and should prepare using the following music:

4th - 5th - Big Bright Beautiful World

6th through 8th - Pick either Big Bright Beautiful World or I Know It's Today

Audition Forms

Students should bring the Musical Audition Forms with them to the auditions on October 16th.

Our Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame dinner will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024. We are excited to welcome this year's class of inductees and guests back to the DeSales Catholic School Gymnasium for this year's Induction Dinner.
