Panther Post
March 5th - March 10th
Hello Lopez Families,
We had such a great week that included our Panther Challenge. The kids looked like they really had a lot of fun. I also loved the amount of parent involvement. Thank you to all the sponsors, pictured below. Your commitment to the kids is admirable.
Congratulations to our wonderful drama department, pictured below. Last week their One Act Play took second at the district event with the production of Triangle. Also congratulations to the following for individual acting awards that went to Kamryn Everett & James Morris: Honorable Mention All Star Cast, Claire Caven & Avery Trost: All Star Cast and Outstanding Crew awards went to Ethan Evans and Colton Barnes.
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Mr. Wernli

A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM LOPEZ PTA
The Executive Board, comprised of six officers and committee chairpersons, facilitate the Lopez PTA. Committee chairpersons are responsible for an event or ongoing activity and, utilizing a committee of volunteers, execute the events within the given time period and budget. Without committee chairpersons, our PTA events cannot happen. We would love to have you as a part of our team! If you are interested in a committee chairperson position, please indicate your areas of interest by ranking the positions in order of preference. Thank you for your consideration!
A Message from Reagan PTA
It’s already that time of year to begin the process of filling our PTA officer positions for the next school year. The Nominating Committee, which was elected by the PTA membership at our February meeting, is charged with presenting the general membership with their recommendations at the April general meeting (April 3rd).
If you are interested in serving in one of the officer positions, please complete the form below and return email it to Katie Brown, snkbrown@gmail.com by Tuesday, March 20, 2018.
9th Annual Ian's Cup
Ian's Foundation was formed in memory of Ian Fincke who tragically passed away at the age of 16, in October of 2008 as the result of fatal wounds sustained during a skateboarding accident. Ian was a previous student at Hardy Oak Elementary, Barbara Bush Middle School and both Reagan and Johnson High Schools. The foundation was formed to advance the safety and welfare of San Antonio youth through education and scholarship awards. To date over $40,000 in scholarships has been awarded. Ian's Foundation also promotes helmet safety in the San Antonio and surrounding area and supports STRAPS (South Texas Regional and Paralympic Sports). STRAPS was inspired by Ian's Foundation as a way to allow anyone in San Antonio with physical disabilities the opportunity to enjoy the game of soccer. You can read more about the foundation at www.IansFoundation.org.
We will be offering our annual spring soccer clinic for the San Antonio youth as one of our major fundraisers for the Ian's Cup scholarship fund. The clinic will be held on Sunday, March 4th at the Mays YMCA from 2-4PM (with registration from 1:30-2:00) The cost of the clinic is $30 if pre-registered and $35 the day of the clinic. It will include a 2hr clinic as well as a 2018 Ian's Cup t-shirt. The deadline for t-shirt pre-orders and pre-registration for the soccer clinic to ensure a 2018 Ian's Cup t-shirt the day of the clinic is Sunday, February 18th but pre-registration for the clinic will remain open through Saturday, March 3rd at 6PM. Trainers will include local high school coaches, club trainers and high school soccer players from Johnson and Reagan, as they must volunteer at one of the foundation's community service events to be eligible for a scholarship. You can read more about the events at www.IansCup.org.
