February 25, 2025
Dear TUFSD Families and Staff,
I want to take a moment to welcome everyone back from what I hope was a long, restful week. I hope you all had the chance to recharge and spend quality time with family and friends.
As we settle back into our routines, I want to recognize our incredible students who were out there representing our district over the break—demonstrating their hard work, passion, and commitment in various events across our community. From athletics to the arts, from competitions to residencies, our students continue to showcase their dedication and talent, making us proud every step of the way. Their efforts are a true reflection of the strength and spirit of our school district, and we celebrate their achievements together.
As we move forward, let’s carry this same enthusiasm into the weeks ahead. Thank you, as always, for your support in "Building a Better Tomorrow" for our community.
Sincerely,
Dr. Raymond Sanchez
Emergency Contact Reminders/Designation of Person in Parental Relationship Form
In the beginning of each calendar year, the Tarrytown School District reminds families to check that their emergency contact information is up to date. You can do this by logging into the Parent Portal and reviewing your child’s emergency contacts. If you have any questions, or need to make any changes, please contact the main office of your child’s school. Please note if changes are needed to your home address, household relationships, or any demographics, this needs to be done through the Registrar's office.
Additionally, we are sharing the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) Form 4940 as a useful tool for any parent who wishes to designate parental responsibilities for the temporary care of your child(ren) and to make medical/educational decisions for your child(ren) in the event you are unable to do so as a parent. You may wish to consider that the person you choose to designate in this form is listed as one of your emergency contacts with our school district. Therefore, if you become unavailable to care for your children, we will call the emergency contacts in our system and reach the individual you have designated. This form is also available to any parent at our Family Resource Center, the Administration Building or at your child’s school and online in a variety of languages (search Form 4940).
For assistance completing this form, please contact the social worker in your child’s school.

- W.L. Morse: Stephanie Swan - 914-631-9422
- Washington Irving: Jackie Sanchez-Young - 914-631-2136
- SHMS: Alexandra Martin - 914-366-5986

Parental Delegation Form Suggestions:
How will the school district know if a parent has completed the Delegation form for their children?
In the event you are no longer able to care for your child(ren), the District will contact the individuals listed as emergency contacts listed in our student information system at each school.
We recommend that you make the individual whom you delegate on this form to be an emergency contact listed with the school district.
This will help the District know who you have designated.
How can a parent change an emergency contact individual?
You can contact your child’s school.
Who should keep the form?
Parents should keep a notarized original copy of the document
Give an original notarized copy to the designated person or persons that you designate.
