Nursing Students
Every Monday during October and November I will be having 2 nursing students from The University of Michigan - Flint with me during their community clinical rotation. I will be getting a new set of students every three weeks. During their 2nd or 3rd week, they would like to come to your classrooms to teach a quick topic OR read a book to your class.
example of topics:
- Hand hygiene
- Oral hygiene
- Exercise
- Nutrition
- Etc.
If you would like to have my students in your classroom, please sign up here and indicate which topic or if you would like them to read.
I appreciate all of your support!
tips for a safe Halloween
- Check treats for signs of tampering before children are allowed to eat them. Candy should be thrown away if the wrapper is faded, torn or unwrapped.
- Drivers: be especially alert from 5:30-9:30pm, which is the most popular times for trick-or-treating.
- Take extra time to look for kids at intersections
- Remember that costumes can limit children's visibility and they may not be able to see your vehicle.
- Have kids carry glow sticks or flashlights to help them see and be seen.
- Teal pumpkin project: to provide safe options for trick-or-treaters with food allergies, simply put a teal pumpkin outside your home, indicating you have safe non-food treats available.
Hygiene
Just a reminder, in my office at West Shore and Torrey Hill, I have a supply of hygiene items that were generously donated to me over the summer. Some items include:
- hair brush/comb
- hair ties
- Chapstick
- unscented lotion
- toothbrushes
- toothpaste
- boys & girls deodorant
If anyone from your class could benefit from any of these items, please send them to see me.
Tooth Fairy
Please send your students down to see me when they lose a tooth at school, I have a keepsake necklace for them.
