Colorado Free Application Days
Overview
The seventh annual Colorado Free Application Days will be held on Tuesday, October 15th - Thursday, October 17th.
The Colorado Free Application Days campaign is an initiative designed to inspire more Coloradans to continue their education. From Tuesday, Oct. 15 through Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, all 32 public colleges and universities in Colorado and several private institutions will waive their application fees, making it free for anyone to submit an application. By waiving application fees—a common barrier to higher education—Colorado Free Application Days aims to improve access to further education and training, which is becoming increasingly critical in the state’s rapidly changing economy.
The days cap off Colorado Applies Month, a five-week, statewide campaign that encourages high school juniors and seniors – and adults – to select an education or training option that’s best for them and apply to that program. The statewide push is designed to increase Colorado’s college-going and FAFSA and CASFA completion rates. The campaign aims to support low-income and first-generation students and to help keep Colorado students in state.
Thompson Valley High School is proud to announce three incredible individuals who earned the AP Capstone Diploma™ following their tremendous efforts in the 2023-2024 school year. Congratulation to Isaac Kreutzer, Marco Lapierre, and Kate Weimer! Your accomplishments make us all proud of you and proud to be #TVSTRONG.
To receive the AP Capstone Diploma™, students must earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar, AP Research, and on four additional AP ® Exams of their choice.

Meet the Staff
Kristi Mutter is an enthusiastic teacher who enjoys science and helping kids learn. She loves asking “why” and using science to understand nature and her environment. In her free time, she likes to spend time with family, go to the pool, venture outside, and she hopes to pick up needlepoint soon. She also enjoys having “Science Sunday” with her daughters where they do fun experiments together. Originally, Mrs. Mutter wanted to get a job in natural resource management, but she decided she wanted to be a teacher like her parents after briefly substitute teaching.
Mrs. Mutter aims for her room to feel homey and make students feel as comfortable as possible to create a good learning environment. To achieve this, she has warm lights strung across her ceiling, a fish tank filled with several different types of fish, and she brings a welcoming attitude every day. She wants her students to feel comfortable because she knows what it's like to feel nervous to raise your hand and to be afraid of being wrong.
She sees science, specifically natural science, as one of the best ways for students to learn interactively. Her goal is to have one hands-on lesson a week to engage her students on a level deeper than words on a page. Mrs. Mutter is an energetic and driven teacher who is dedicated to teaching students and sharing her love for science.
24-25 GIC Habitat Build
Thank you students, families and GIC volunteers for spending this past Saturday with the GIC program building a house for Berthoud Habitat for Humanity. It was the most successful and highest quality build we have had on a Saturday, so thank you for your attention to detail and high building standards. We would also like to thank Silver Mine Subs for sponsoring and donating our delicious lunch. We look forward to seeing you all at our next Saturday build in October. Thank you again for all your hard work and dedication to help make the 24-25 TVHS GIC program a success. We are certainly off to a great start!!

Students! Work toward earning the distinction of being a Literary Scholar! How do you do this? By reading and then logging pages! Reading for fun or for school counts for this program, so anything you read in classes or just on your own can be logged toward your total count. You will log pages on the ReadSquared website (tvhs.readsquared.com) or the ReadSquared app. The purpose of this program is to encourage reading and to recognize all that you gain from reading, such as increased vocabulary, increased empathy, and a broader worldview. Immunizations
Dear Eagle Families,
This year has started off great!! Thank you for all you do and staying involved with your student/s here at Thompson Valley. With that said, if your student/s are not up to date on immunizations, or if you choose to have them exempt, please do so sooner rather than later. For exemption, this must be done EVERY school year and an educational module has to be watched, signed, dated, and returned to the health office. The link is below for you. If an immunization is done, you may send a copy or email to myself (cristina.frick@tsd.org) or Jaime Quintana (jaime.quintana@tsd.org) so we can enter it/them into IC. Please let me know if you have any questions at all!! Thanks again.
