On behalf of the entire staff at Elm Dale Elementary School, I am thrilled to welcome you all to the 2024-25 school year!

This past few months have been a combination of enjoying the summer and getting ready for fall. A few highlights are listed below.

• Thursday folders are back. Each Thursday, your child will bring home an Elm Dale Thursday folder in their backpack. The folder will have school, district, and PTO information along with any other communications that need to be send home and reviewed. This way families know when to look for all the important details. Please be sure to empty and go through this folder and then send back the folder the next school day.
• We are launching a new math program in 5K-5th grade called Bridges Math, third edition. Teachers will share more information as the year goes on. A great link to use is the math learning center which has lots of free family resources and math apps.
• We have additional literacy instructional supports as we learn and grow about best practices in reading and writing.
• We have added three sensory hallways around the building. These are places for students to get some energy out and refocus as they walk down the halls.
• A huge thank you to our amazing PTO for helping fund our final pieces of our main office updates.
• The building has been cleaned from the lights to the baseboards by our amazing custodial crew Drago, Mike, Keesha, and Margarita.

After students enter at 8:30, they need time to settle in and get ready for the day. Between 8:30 and 8:45, your child has lots to do! They will need to get and eat breakfast (if wanted), hang up their belongings, hand in any notes to their teacher, say hello to friends, and get their learning materials out so they are all settled in and ready to learn when the attendance bell rings at 8:45. If your child is not in their classroom at 8:45, they will be marked as a late arrival and this will be part of their attendance count and record. Arriving at the school at 8:45 is not on time.

Our student and staff picture day is September 18th. The picture make-up days are October 23rd and December 11th. On December 11th, we are also having candid and student group pictures taken. Our school pictures are taken by Lifetouch

Southwest Suburban Health Department-Greenfield location (SWSHD-Greenfield) will be giving away free backpacks for those in need at the Greenfield Farmer's Market Sunday, September 8th, while supplies last. The Farmers market is located at Konkel park and is from 10:00 am till 2:oo pm.
