Congratulations to Mrs. Cassandra Beale who is this week's TOMS Staff Member of the Week!

Mrs. Beale has been a School Counselor at TOMS for 6 years.

My favorite memory of middle school was being in Band and volunteering to perform with a group of band students after school. We played holiday music on the sidewalk in Brooklyn where I grew up. People where shopping for the holidays. There was a lot of hustle and bustle and it was magic being in the middle of it.

My advice to my middle school self would be... Be yourself. Get involved in activities, sports, clubs, etc. where you have the potential to meet people and have fun.

Congratulations to Ms. Jackie Varcadipane! “Ms. V” is the September 24 Window World Teacher of the Month in partnership with My Horry News. What a well-deserved honor for an outstanding 8th grade math teacher who cares passionately about the success of her students and our school.

Way to go Ms. V!!!

We would not be the same school without these heros! Happy National Custodians Day! Our building still looks brand new thanks to these folks! We appreciate you!

Congratulations to Mr. Chad Hammer and these awesome Ten Oaks Middle School Orchestra members! The TOMS Orchestra Program under the direction of Mr. Hammer had twelve students plus one alternate selected for this year’s Region Five 6-8 Orchestra. That is the most we have ever had in our 7 year history! They will represent Ten Oaks and Horry County Schools Fine Arts at the Region Orchestra event in November at Myrtle Beach High School along with outstanding young musicians from Florence and Sumter. Bravo to them, they definitely have the WANT TO!

Ten Oaks Middle offers a variety of Clubs and Discovery classes! Our students enjoy everything from Chorus, Band and Orchestra to Drama, Science Club and Mock Trial, just to name a few!

Many Clubs will begin this month and we will share information in Advisory classrooms, Facebook and here in the newsletter. We encourage all students to get involved! Check back with us here for important upcoming dates and information.

Kindness Club Meets The first Thursday of the Month!

The TOMS Kindness Club was created for our students, and will meet once a month during our morning Advisory time. The goal is to provide an opportunity for students to promote kindness in their school and communities while also increasing their leadership abilities. It also fosters an attitude of teamwork and problem-solving by working together in a respectful manner. The students will participate in several different activities during the school year that will work to foster leadership skills while promoting kindness. We look forward to seeing you in the Kindness Club!

TOMS SCIENCE CLUB meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month!

The next meeting will be October 9th from 3:45-4:45 PM. Please remember that all students must have a ride ready by 4:45 PM. Students with questions can see Mrs. Rich at TOMS. See you Wednesday, September 11th!

Fellowship of Christian Athletes will meet every Thursday in the gym at Ten Oaks, starting at 7:45 AM. All students are welcome! No sign up is required. Come and bring a friend!

One of the many features of this new dismissal process is that your children will remain comfortably and safely in their classroom until the moment they will meet you in the "car loading zone".
