Pine Street Elementary School
“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says “Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.” - Lewis Carroll

Yearbook
We are using TreeRing as our yearbook provider again this year. TreeRing provides an exceptionally different yearbook experience because:
- It offers 2 free customizable pages in every book ordered;
- There are optional upgrades available at additional costs (e.g. hardcover book, additional custom pages);
- It plants one tree for every yearbook ordered, and;
- It is an online company based in the US. (This means parents will order directly from the TreeRing website and the cost will be charged in USD. A major credit card will be required.)
The cost for the 2024-25 Pine Street Yearbook is $29.68 USD. To order you will need to go online to www.treering.com/validate and use our unique school code (1014762959353462). From here, you will follow the prompts to create an account and link to your student(s), which should already be loaded in the system. If you created an account last year, you simply log in and select this year. Please note that when entering your child’s name, use only his/her FIRST and LAST Names (no middle names or initials).
The cut-off date to complete your customized pages and order is July 31, 2025. To ensure your order is submitted prior to this date we encourage you to go online soon to familiarize yourself with the process. We also recommend that you start ‘saving’ the photos you may like to use in your customized pages in a folder or file so they are easy to access when you are ready to create your pages. Should you not wish to take advantage of the customizable pages, a standard copy of the yearbook is also available for purchase, at the same price. Standard copies must still be ordered through the TreeRing website.
Book Fair Coming!
The Spring 2025 Book Fair will take place during parent teacher conferences on February 3 and 4 from 3:30 to 6:15 in Room 120.
The Fall 2024 Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success with total sales of $4652.00.
Thank you to everyone who supported the Book Fair. Book fair rewards go towards the library collection which benefits the literacy goals of the school.
Sign up information will be sent to families when the interview bookings open.

Inclement Weather
With the winter season in full effect, we have a few reminders for families:
· Ensure students have clothing appropriate for expected weather conditions.
· If weather conditions are bad enough to impact student transportation, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) advises families directly, as well as posting on social media and eips.ca as early as possible.
· Decisions regarding bus cancellations are guided by an EIPS administrative procedure that states, “school bus service may be suspended…when there is a forecast or current temperature of -40 C, including wind chill factor, in one or more regions.”
· Other reasons for suspending or delaying school bus services include adverse weather and poor road conditions.
· When school bus services are suspended, schools remain open to students.
For more information, contact EIPS Student Transportation at 780-417-8151.
