Principal's Pen
May 17, 2024
Dear Julian Curtiss Families,
We had a week of celebrations and performances this week. Students in grades 3, 4 and 5 performed for our spring concert on Monday night and our musicians were truly able to SHINE! We are so proud of their hard work and practice.
Today we welcomed over 200 Grandparents for a beautiful breakfast and performance by our chorus. Grandparents from all over travel to visit their grandchildren at Julian Curtiss for this day. Grandparent's Day is a cherished tradition here at Julian Curtiss, one that holds a special place in our hearts.A big shout out and a thank you to Allison Spivak along with her committee, Paulette Lee, Meredith Gold, Rebecca Cooper and Diana Murrer for organizing and implementing this special day. Thank you to our new principal Eduardo Calderon for joining the event! We loved having you.
Last week all families were emailed an invitation to voluntarily fill out the annual Greenwich Public Schools Family Survey, with a deadline of Friday, May 24. We encourage participation from all families because we value your confidential feedback. The survey should take approximately 2-3 minutes to complete, and you can skip questions if you do not have enough information to answer them.
The email would have arrived with the subject line “Greenwich Public Schools Family Survey” from Dr. Toni Jones via k12insightllc.com. Be sure and check your spam folder if you do not find it readily in your inbox.
There are still lots of opportunities to come and see your child's work at Julian Curtiss in the next few weeks. Make sure to make plans to:
4. Field Day, Friday May 24th at 9:00-11:00
5, See our Artists at the Art Receptions, May 29th at 5:30 pm
6. Visit your child's Foreign Language classroom May 30th or May 31st (see schedule) and get a glimpse of how much progress they made this year.
Warm regards,
Trish McGuire

Grandparents Day in KS
Grade 1 Visits Greenwich Public Library
On Tuesday, May 14th, our first graders visited the Greenwich Public Library as part of our Grade 1 Assured Experience- some students got their very first library card, some students checked out their very first book, and every single one of them left with a book in their hands and a huge smile on their faces.
We have included a quick clip that the library put together of our visit, and it's simply so gratifying to see the fruits of our collective efforts. Thank you to our friends at the Greenwich Library, our Media Specialist Mrs. Murray, our Grade 1 teachers, parents, and everyone who ignites the love of books in our children.
JC in the News
Meet 10 Greenwich fifth graders who give up recess time to produce their own podcast
Please read the amazing online story in the Greenwich Time regarding a podcast by fifth-graders at our school. We expect print coverage in the coming days.
Dear Parents,
We could not do all that we do without your partnership! We want to express our gratitude for your continuous support and meaningful involvement in school activities. Your presence and encouragement make the learning experience more enriching for all students. You are truly appreciated, and we are very grateful for your genuine involvement.
Please stop by for coffee, breakfast and a thank you for all that you do. If you have volunteered once or you have volunteered all year we want to show our appreciation, so come on by.
Sincerely,
Trish McGuire and the entire JC staff
