Dear Families,
I can't believe that Wednesday marked our 100th day of school. We have seen the children grow so much and we are proud of them. This week was extremely busy with learning and activities. I hope you enjoy this Trojan Weekly. Have a great weekend!

Have A Great Weekend!
Sports Jersey Spirit Day
At AME, Sports Jersey Day was a celebration of sport enthusiasm and school spirit. Students took the chance to showcase their favorite teams through different types of apparel. From wrestling singlets to professional jerseys, the halls were transformed into a colorful display of team pride. Some students donned local soccer team jerseys, representing our community's teams. Others sported classic Giants beanies, keeping warm while showing off their loyalty to San Francisco's beloved baseball team. Thanks for a great day!
Battle of The Books
Michelson Elementary was 19 students strong at this week's Battle of the Books competition held at the Calaveras River Academy in San Andreas. Battle of the Books is an exciting competition between teams who have read the same book list and collectively answer questions in a competition-style event to see who has retained the best knowledge of the literary choices. Michelson had two teams that received ribbons for their efforts! Our team of Zain J, Dylan S, Jackson C, Kaelyn B, and Lilly B took home a first place ribbon in the relay race event with a perfect score! Our second team of Elliot P, Savannah G, Shiloh S, and Rosie R took home the 4th place ribbon in the same event! Congratulations to ALL our competitors!
ALICE
Keeping Our Students Safe
At AME and all VUSD schools, we are prepared with the Bolo Stick door reinforcement. This device has been independently tested and rated to resist forces in excess of 4,200 pounds, that's more than 2 tons! Solid steel components make Bolo Stick an unbeatable force in keeping out active threats to classrooms, offices, or homes.
Simple Active Shooter Security?
Bolo Stick has no mechanical parts that can become defective. The one-step round hole/round peg philosophy eliminates the need for fine motor skills under stress. Our door barricade device does not require any special knowledge to operate and has universal mounting for inward or outward swinging doors.
Mr. Savaso the Science Guy
This week, Mrs. Lane’s Kindergarten class had a hands-on science lesson with Mr. Savaso exploring the different types of trees in our surrounding area. Students worked outside to observe and identify trees such as pine, fir, and oak, which are native to our region. They also learned about trees that grow in other regions, including palm and cottonwood.
Students in Mrs. Lane’s and Mrs. Ryan’s classes explored the science of sound through engaging, hands-on activities. They learned that sound is created by vibrations, experimenting with rubber bands to create sound and observe the vibrations. Additionally, students also participated in a sound chamber activity, where they discovered the differences between volume and pitch by dropping various objects and listening carefully to the sounds they produced.
AME Spreading Kindness
Celebration Central: 100 Days of Learning!
Four amazing teachers—Mrs. Wright, Mrs. Lane, Mrs. Ryan, and Mrs. Stephens—turned the 100th day of school into an amazing adventure! Students jumped into exciting activities that sparked their curiosity and celebrated their learning journey. At the end of the event, we even had a 100 year old man share the delightful story "Biscuit's 100th Day" with the children. The day was filled with fun, learning, and memories. Who says school can't be an exciting playground of discovery?
Wellness
Our Wellness Team is always on the look out for great ways to teach wellness and other social emotional strategies. In this Trojan Weekly, we are talking perseverance. Perseverance in children is the ability to persist through challenges, staying motivated and resilient when faced with difficult tasks. It develops through encouragement, setting achievable goals, and praising effort over natural talent. By allowing kids to experience and overcome obstacles, parents and teachers help them build confidence, improve problem-solving skills, and prepare for future challenges. This quality is crucial for academic and personal success, teaching children that setbacks are opportunities for growth and learning.

Feeney Park Drop Off & Pickup
Important Reminders For Student Drop Off & Pick Up
- Children may only be dropped off and picked up in the Feeney Park parking lot.
Serious safety concerns have arisen, relative to the morning drop off line. If you want to walk your child to the stairs, please park your vehicle in a parking space. Do not stop your vehicle in the drop off line and exit the car to walk your child to the stairs.
- In order for a safe and speedy morning drop off, your child must remain in the car until
you reach the first place in line. Mrs. Martinez or other Michelson personnel will safely assist your child as he/she exits the car. Do not allow your child to exit your vehicle until you reach the first
place in line.
- All students must walk up the stairs to the playground. Remind your child not to climb
the hillside.
- All vehicles (except those bearing “Disabled” placards) are prohibited from entering the main
Michelson School parking lot to drop off and/or pick up children.
