A Message from the Colorado Department of Education
Hello,
We would like to hear from parents about your child's experience with the Colorado READ Act and its observed impact.
As you may know, the Colorado READ (Reading to Ensure Academic Development) Act provides funding and a framework for improving literacy outcomes for kindergartners through third graders, particularly those with “Significant Reading Deficiencies” (SRDs) who are at risk to not read at grade level by third grade. The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) has been working with WestEd and its partners to conduct a legislatively mandated evaluation of the READ Act since March 2020.
The survey should take no more than 10-15 minutes to complete, and all responses will be kept confidential.
- We are only asking you to complete the survey if your child has ever been identified as having a significant reading deficiency (SRD) and/or has ever been given a READ plan.
- If you have multiple children in kindergarten through grade 3 who have been identified as having a significant reading deficiency, please complete a separate survey for each child.
Thank you in advance for your participation in this parent survey. We greatly appreciate your time and willingness to share your experience.

Share Your Feedback – PSD’s 2025 Family Engagement Survey
February 3, 2025
Dear PSD Families,
Your feedback is invaluable in helping Poudre School District improve the educational experience for all students. We invite you to take the 2025 PSD Family Engagement Survey, which will be open from Feb. 3 to Feb. 17.
The survey is available in English, Spanish, Mandarin, and Arabic and should take about five minutes to complete.
If you have children at multiple school levels (elementary, middle, and high school), we encourage you to complete a separate survey for each level to provide feedback tailored to each experience:
- Elementary School Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PNNRWRN
- Middle School Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KTT6WVL
- High School Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PNGTQPV
The survey covers important topics such as school environment, communication between school and home, student transitions between grade levels, and overall student success. The majority of the questions are multiple choice. Your responses will remain confidential and shared anonymously with school staff. Composite results will be posted on the PSD website.
Your input helps shape the future of PSD and ensures we continue fostering strong partnerships between families and schools.
If you have any questions, please contact Ran Shi at rshi@psdschools.org.
Thank you for your time and for being a valued part of our PSD community!
Sincerely,
Poudre School District
PSD bell schedules update for 2025-26
January 29, 2025
Dear PSD Community,
We recognize that changes to bell times that were implemented for this school year have impacted many of you in different ways, and we want to thank you for sharing your feedback and experiences with us. We are committed to ensuring our decisions serve the best interests of students, staff, and families.
We recently provided the Poudre School District Board of Education with an update on our ongoing work to study bell schedules (see the video below).
During the update, the Board of Education charged staff with continuing to evaluate options for modifying bell schedules for the 2025-26 school year, with the primary objective of moving middle school start times later. It is important to note that any adjustments to start and end times at one school level will likely impact the start and end times at all school levels. The Board of Education also charged staff with evaluating options that are cost-neutral. District staff will use this feedback to continue exploring options and will bring an update to the Board of Education at their meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Your voices matter, and we are dedicated to moving forward in a way that reflects the needs of our entire community. We will provide updates as this work progresses and continue to keep you informed.
Thank you again for your continued engagement and partnership.
Sincerely,
Poudre School District
