Halloween Info
- Parade: A short "Halloween Parade" will take place beginning at 10:00AM on Monday, October 31st. Weather permitting, we will parade out the main doors and around the building. Our Y5s & kindergarten students will lead the parade around each classroom and then out around the building. All are welcome to come and watch our costume parade outdoors!
- Classroom Activities: Classrooms/grade levels will be planning for Halloween activities and celebrations individually, either before or after the parade. If teachers request parent volunteers to help facilitate the classroom activities, all volunteers will have to submit a Background Check.
- Costumes: Students may come to school in costume on Monday, October 31st. They can stay in costume for the duration of the day. Costumes need to be school appropriate and cannot depict violence or excess blood/gore. No fake weapons are allowed in school (i.e. toy guns, swords, blades, etc). Costume masks can be worn for the parade, but not throughout the day. For costumes that have short skirts/shorts, leggings or pants need to be worn underneath.

Checks can be made payable to Salk Elementary, and we do take debit and credit card purchases. Sales Tax is charged on all purchases. Also, Scholastic eWallets can be set up. Parents can go online and create an account for their student and add electronic funds to it so that the students can purchase books at the fair. Once an account is setup, a link can be shared with friends and family who can also add funds to the student’s eWallet. Please be aware that any unused funds in an eWallet are not refunded. The money will stay in the account for shopping through the Scholastic Online Book Store or at future book fairs. Visit the website below to get more information and to create an eWallet account for your student.
The teacher’s will be filling out wish lists for books they would like to add to their classroom libraries. What a great gift to give your child’s classroom! There will also be donation boxes at the book fair where you can leave monetary donations that go towards the purchase of books for our library. Profits from our book fair and donations from families are the primary funding source for Salk’s library. Please consider donating to help us keep our media center shelves current and full of exciting new stories for your children to read.
Finally, the link to our Online Scholastic Book Fair is posted at the site below. Online sales run from October 24th – November 6th . If you can't make it up to the fair, have relatives who would like to shop or you would like to browse a larger selection of books, please feel free to order online.
