Students will participate in activities such as kayaking, archery, high ropes course, water study, math games, and reading and writing in nature. We would like to thank the H-E-B Foundation for continuing to provide this free camp to ALA that allows students a learning and community building experience outside of the traditional classroom setting. Thank you to all of the family members who have volunteered to chaperone this three day field experience and to our 7th grade teachers for their dedication and hard work towards one of our major travel experiences for our ALA students.

Come join the fun and work with our teachers and staff! Kids welcome too, we will put them to work! (This is a great opportunity for older kids needing service hours!)
Join us at the Main playground to work in all areas of our outdoor campus: gardens, outdoor classroom, chicken yard, and both playgrounds.
Bring garden gloves, if desired, to help with weeding and pruners to help with cutting back freeze damage. If you would like to donate any native plants, veggies, herbs, or mulch/compost feel free!

Habitat Helpers PBL Field Trip to Hardberger Park
This week our K-3 Village A and B students will visit Phil Hardberger Park! Village A will attend on Monday, February 24 and Village B on Wednesday, February 26. On the field trip students will go on a hike led by Park Staff and be on the lookout for local wildlife. Please send your child in comfortable closed toed shoes, ready to be outside for the most of the day! These field trips are connected to our 3rd nine weeks K-3 PBL seeking to answer the driving question, “How can we, as scientists, learn about our campus wildlife and habitats in order to share our findings with the community?” All parents and families who plan to attend should be signed up for the opportunity in App Garden.
ALA Euclid TELPAS Testing
TELPAS Testing will take place for our Emergent Bilingual 2nd and 3rd graders on March 3rd and 4th. Our students had an opportunity to learn about the test, set goals and practice this past week. We will do the same this coming week; if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Mrs. Cantu at acantu2@saisd.net.
LockDown Drill
This coming week on Friday, we will have our last lockdown drill of the school year at the ALA Euclid campus to practice campus procedures. This exercise is only a drill and students will be notified of this prior to beginning. We encourage you to take this opportunity to stress the importance of following directions during emergency situations with your child. The lockdown drill procedures are listed below as a reminder. Thank you for your support, feel free to reach out to Mrs. Barber at jbarber2@saisd.net if you have any questions.
- A lockdown is a response action schools take to secure interior portions of school buildings and grounds during incidents that pose an immediate threat of violence inside the school. The primary objective is to quickly ensure all school students, staff, and visitors are secured away from immediate danger. During this drill, our students will not transition and all individual classroom doors will be closed and locked. Teachers will move students out of the line of sight of windows and have students maintain silence until the lockdown is lifted.
GT Screener
First grade parents, universal screening for the Gifted and Talented program will be held in mid March. All students in first grade will be assessed, with the exception of those already identified and those whose parent or guardian completes the GATE testing OPT-OUT form. If you do NOT want your first grader tested for GT, you must complete the opt out form and turn it in to Ms. Natalie. The electronic opt-out form can be found on THIS LINK. If you have questions, please reach out to Ms. Natalie at nwalker1@saisd.net.

Due to the short length of the Summer PE program, students must attend all daily sessions in order to earn high school credit. Summer PE is an in-person course.
