CUBS Chronicle

Mr. Smith's Scoop 🍦
Our August Student of the Month lunchtime celebrations were today. Congratulations to this first round of students for showing their CUBS Expectations (Being Courteous and Respectful, Understanding Your Responsibilities, Being Safe and Spreading Kindness). Thank you to all the families that were able to join us to celebrate these students!
Today was Mrs. Martin’s, our school secretary, last day at Camelview. She will be working for our Transportation Department and the Madison Education Foundation. We wish her well. She definitely will be missed. Mrs. Robertson will be joining our office team on Tuesday.
Important – Move on When Reading Letter
If your child is in K-3 grades you will be receiving a Move on When Reading (MOWR) letter if your child is currently not meeting the fall benchmark levels. This letter will help you know where your student needs extra support. Often it is just practice building fluency in letters, sounds, sight words, reading and math facts. If you do receive a letter, I strongly encourage you to attend our Curriculum Night to learn more about how we are supporting students in the learning journey, as well as learn ways you can help your son/daughter.
Curriculum Night is Coming
On Sept. 5 we will hold our Curriculum Night. This is a parent event for you to learn about what your child will learn this year, how to partner with teachers and the school to support your child and answer any questions you may have. Please plan on joining us. This event is scheduled from 5:30-6:30.
Enjoy the long weekend. There is no school Monday in observance of Labor Day.

Thanks for Helping Us!
Our dismissal is now down to 18 minutes! Thank you for being patient with us and each other as we learn/relearn dismissal procedures. Please remember that:
- The curb lanes are for K-3rd grade single student pick-up
- The grass lanes are for 4th grade and multi-family pick-up
- Blue cards are required for the release of students so that we can ensure that students are released to the correct adults
- If you prefer to walk up, there is plenty of parking down 21st Street south of our crosswalk to park. Please do not park in the vacant lot.
*If you choose to park in our main parking lot during this time you may need to wait for the curb and grass lanes to clear before you are able to leave.
Staff is working hard during this time to safely and efficiently load each student in the correct vehicle and keep traffic moving so that we reduce the back-up on Campbell.
If you want to park and walk up, we recommend arriving a little later (about 10-12 min. after the bell) and your wait will be considerably less.
Birthday Celebrations! 🎂
Got a Birthday Coming Up? Purchase a Birthday Box!
Our cafeteria can provide birthday boxes at a very low cost. This reduces the impact on classroom learning time (every minute counts), reduces the likelihood of ants in classrooms and creates a fun celebration during lunch times. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tkA7cxvKb4gCb7RDTtE2mxsgSZzxXMui/view?usp=sharing

This year, we will have a food truck (Tacos El Guerro from 5-7) at curriculum night, so get there early or plan to grab something on your way out! This is a great opportunity to get to know your Cub’s teacher better and get a sneak peek at what their school day looks like! Plus, you can grab some dinner that you didn’t have to make or pick up! SCORE!
