A Message from Mr. Larsen
Hello KoMet Families,
We have had a terrific start to the school year. Our students have done an excellent job meeting the expectations of Kasson-Mantorville Middle School. Students have transitioned into school nicely and we are excited about and looking forward to the coming months ahead. Our 8th grade students have demonstrated positive leadership and have set the positive tone for the beginning of the year.
The 4 Be's
You have heard your student speak about the 4 Be's at KMMS. At school, we have four basic expectations: Be Safe, Be respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Engaged. To encourage and promote expected behaviors, students attend KoMet Time daily. During KoMet Time, teachers model and teach the expected behaviors of middle school students. In turn, students have the opportunity to demonstrate these expectations daily - not only in school, but in their personal lives as well.
Cell Phones
Our students have done a tremendous job of keeping their phones in their lockers during the school day. It is important to me that students can focus on their learning instead of worrying about their Snapchat streak. If you have a time-sensitive message to share with child, please communicate with the office at 507-634-4030 and we will deliver your message to them.
Middle School Pick-Up
The middle school drop-off in the morning has gone well. In the afternoon, I suggest that parents/guardians pull into the parking lot and park their car while waiting for their child(ren). This would reduce the line and people waiting on the street. We have a number of adults who will assist your child in walking across the parking lot safely. Thank you for your patience as we navigate this new system and prioritize student safety.
Student Behavior
There will undoubtedly be a time when your student faces conflict at KMMS. If and when your student experiences conflict, please communicate with your child's teachers and me. At this age, many students believe they can handle it on their own; but, unfortunately, do not have the skills or tact to find a reasonable resolution. Our teachers and I want to support your child's growth through middle school, so please communicate concerns as they arise.
Homecoming Week
This is just a friendly reminder that homecoming week is Monday, September 30, through Friday, October 1. We should have the dress up days soon. Once I have them, I will share them out with you.

Thank you for your continued partnership with Kasson-Mantorville Middle School. Go KoMets!

Josh Larsen, Principal
