From Mr. Harris
Dear Parents,
We're excited to begin another week here at FLMS. This week is an important week for our students, staff, and our community. As most of you know, on Thursday night, our high school football team will compete in the Battle of the Bridge against the Lenoir City High School Panthers. The BOTB is one of the oldest high school football rivalries in the state of Tennessee. In conjunction with the BOTB, our school is participating in the annual BOTB food drive to benefit the Good Samaritan Center of Loudon County. This ties in perfectly with one of our five Braves traits, altruism. Altruism can be defined as "the belief in or practice of selfless concern for the well-being of others." As Braves, we strive to put the needs of others before ourselves and as a staff we aim to guide our students to look for ways that they can help others in need. The BOTB food drive is a great opportunity to demonstrate what being a Brave is all about. Have a great week!
Go Braves!

Parent Tips of the Week!
Attendance is Essential
Here are some tips for parents on the importance of school attendance:
Set a Routine: Establish a consistent daily routine for your child, including a regular bedtime and morning schedule. This helps ensure they are well-rested and ready for school each day.
Communicate the Importance: Talk to your child about why attending school every day is crucial. Explain how regular attendance helps them learn, make friends, and develop good habits for the future1.
Monitor Attendance: Keep track of your child’s attendance. If they miss school, find out why and address any issues that may be causing absences2.
Create a Positive Attitude: Encourage a positive attitude towards school. Celebrate their achievements and show interest in their school activities and homework3.
Plan Ahead: Schedule appointments and family trips outside of school hours whenever possible. This minimizes disruptions to their learning2.
Address Health Issues: Ensure your child is healthy and ready for school. Address any health concerns promptly and teach them good hygiene practices to avoid unnecessary absences2.
Stay Informed: Stay in touch with your child’s teachers and school staff. Attend parent-teacher meetings and stay updated on your child’s progress and any attendance issues4.
Set Expectations: Make it clear that attending school is non-negotiable unless they are genuinely ill. Establishing this expectation early helps children understand the importance of regular attendance1.
Provide Support: If your child is struggling with schoolwork or social issues, provide the necessary support or seek help from school counselors or tutors3.
Be a Role Model: Show your child that you value education by being punctual and committed to your own responsibilities. Your actions can inspire them to take their school attendance seriously1.
