The Minnesota 4-H Code of Conduct applies to both face-to-face and online environments and will be enforced with 4-H members, 4-H parents and 4-H volunteers as follows:
- While participating in or attending a 4-H sponsored program (e.g. club meeting, project meeting, activity, event, learning opportunity).
- At the county fair while participating in or attending a 4-H event or while on premises used for 4-H purposes (e.g. show ring, exhibit building, 4-H tie outs, livestock barns, food stand).
- At the state fair, during their (or their child’s) assigned encampment or assigned volunteer responsibility.
Check out the full code of conduct here and contact us with questions.

Elections for youth officers are held at our August 5 leaders council meeting at the fairgrounds. Youth in grades 7 and up are eligible along with youth with one more year in 4-H (those that graduated from high school this year) can be nominated. This advisory board also serves as our grievance committee. Enrolled youth sixth grade and up and screened volunteers can vote in the election.

R.J. Kern, Artist, Photographer - Talks and Exhibition
The more time I spend with young people growing up on farms and the more I learn about their plans for their futures, the more enthusiastic I am to use the tools I understand to carry their stories and experiences to a broader audience - R.J. Kern.
Artist Biography - R.J. Kern (b 1978) is an American artist whose work investigates ideas of home, ancestry, and a sense of place. His portraits focus on intimate, interdependent relationships of people, animals, and landscape as a means of exploring how ancestry shapes identity and how myth intertwines with personal history. His camera has led him from an inquiry into his lineage in the farming communities of Scandinavia and Ireland to the examination of similar communities near his home in Minnesota. Increasingly, his attention has been captured by the next generation of young people, who may or may not be the stewards of rural communities and economies in the future. Visit https://www.rjkern.com for more information.
Come, listen and learn at the Douglas County Fair (4-H Exhibit Building) brought to you by the
Douglas County Agricultural Association in partnership with Douglas County 4-H.
