Pleasant Valley Family Newsletter
June 6, 2025
Our mission is to empower and inspire a community of lifelong learners and leaders!
Hello PV Families,
Thank you for partnering with us this school year. It has been a great school year! Please plan for your child to attend every school day this last week. ALL LIBRARY BOOKS are now overdue! If your child still has one at home, please send it in ASAP!
WE HAVE RESCHEDULED our Field Day Event for Tuesday, June 10th*, and an alternate day for weather reasons on Wednesday, June 11th.
Click here for the NEW ALTERNATE Volunteer Field Day, Wednesday, June 11th Link
Please make sure your child has a bottle of water labeled with their name and wears play clothes and sneakers.
Your children enjoyed the assembly that the Cuyahoga County Public Library Parma-Powers Branch provided last week. They are excited to participate! Please check out the updates at the bottom of the newsletter.
Last Day of School- As we approach June 12th please be aware of the below information
1. Please leave bags or backpacks at home on the last day of school. If a student packs a lunch this is still encouraged and appropriate to bring. All other objects, materials, toys, or bags should remain at home (unless prior approval has been given from the classroom teacher).
2. 4th grade Clapout will take place on June 12th around 2:30 pm (weather permitting). If you plan to attend, please park in the neighborhood behind Pleasant Valley and line the sidewalk between the playground and the old Arlington Elementary. This will take place at the back of the school. This event will be canceled if the weather does not cooperate.
3. Our Lost and Found items are currently displayed in the lobby. These will be packed up and donated on last day of school. Please remind your student(s) to check for any missing items.
For any family that will not be returning to Pleasant Valley next year, please reach out to the Pleasant Valley office (440-843-3867) as we are currently in the preliminary process of planning for next school year. On a similar note if you or someone you know has an incoming kindergarten aged student please register them as soon as possible. More information on registration can be found here.
Thank you for your partnership with Pleasant Valley. We are very appreciative of all of you! If you have any questions, concerns, or just a great idea you would like to share, please email me at bokas@parmacityschools.org or call the main office at (440) 843-3867 any weekday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Have a great summer,
Mrs. Stephanie Boka

Arrival & Dismissal Reminders
Please take a minute to review our arrival and dismissal procedures.
STEM Car Riders: Form two lines and then merge back to one line when approaching the green paper dumpster. Please be courteous of one another when merging, this should be done by every other car. Please continue to display the car rider number.
Traditional Car Riders: Cars should not be entering from the "Bus Entrance". This is clearly marked and should not be used as an entrance. Please continue to display the car rider number.
Walkers: Students must leave campus at dismissal. The playground is closed after school. The new Arlington parking lot at the top of the hill should not be used for student pickup as this causes numerous safety concerns with student crossing parking lots and traffic.
Attendance Reminders
Please provide a doctor’s notes when your child sees a medical professional for appointments or illness.
If you do not have a doctor’s note, you can also screenshot your child’s MyChart and can send them via email to our Home Liaisons:
Susan Turner: turners@parmacityschools.org
OR
Jennifer Langtry: langtryj@parmacityschools.org
If you know that your child will be missing an extended amount of school for vacation or out of town obligation, please contact our administrators. Vacation forms are approved or denied by a PV administrator. Per board policy, only five days of vacation are allowed.
If your family will be traveling for 2+ weeks, please reach out to the office as soon as possible so that we are able to discuss long term absence options with you.
If your child is sent home by the school clinic you must still call the office the next day to report their absence.

Families in Need
Pleasant Valley students and families can find free clothing, food, and hygiene products at The Grace Place housed inside of All Saints Episcopal Church at 8911 W. Ridgewood in Parma. Their hours are Tuesday-Friday from 10 am - 2pm.https://www.allsaintsparma.org/thegraceplace
Families can also go to Audrey’s Outreach, located at the Brook Park Community Church of the Brethren, 16845 Holland Road, Brook Park for free clothing, food, and household linens. Please go to their website http://www.audreysoutreach.org/ or call 216-433-1515 to view their hours of operation. Pleasant Valley Elementary School will be taking any unclaimed lost and found items to these organizations so that families can access jackets, clothing, and basic necessities free of charge. If you have any questions, please contact PV Home Liaison Susan Turner at turners@parmacityschools.org.
Birthday & Invites Policy
If a generous family would like their child to pass out a birthday treat, we recommend a non-edible one that can be passed out and sent home at the end of the day.
If you DO NOT want your child to receive a birthday treat from a classmate, please let their teacher know.
Gifts for students may not be delivered to the school. Balloon deliveries, gift baskets, flowers, etc. disrupt the educational process for all students. Birthday parties during the school day can not be accommodated.
Please check with the classroom teacher before sending any birthday or other treats to school for the class.
Some of our children have food allergies; therefore, all treats must be ready to pass out to the class, store-bought, labeled with ingredients, and individually wrapped.
Store-bought cupcakes in a sealed container with an ingredient label are also acceptable.
Distributing invitations to non-school activities such as birthday parties is prohibited unless all students of at least one gender in the class are invited.
