Rye Neck Middle School
November 3, 2023 - Issue 5
Dear Rye Neck Families,
We hope this message finds you well as we embark on another exciting week at Rye Neck Middle School. We have some updates and reminders to share with you, so please read on!
First and foremost, we want to extend our gratitude to the PTSA and all who joined us at the Spooktacular event last Friday. It was a fantastic evening filled with costumes, music, and spirit. We appreciate the tremendous effort put into the event, from the creative costumes to the volunteers who made it all possible. Our 7th graders had an exciting field trip that allowed them to enjoy the outdoors and team build.
Don't forget that we offer a range of after school clubs and modified sports that can help your child explore new interests and enhance their skills. From coding, art, sustainability and Science Olympiad to basketball, track and wrestling, there's something for everyone. Encourage your child to participate and discover new passions while making friends. The deadline to sign up for modified winter sports is November 22nd.
With the end of the quarter approaching, now is a crucial time for students to start managing their time effectively. Help your child create a study schedule, break down assignments and set achievable goals. The earlier they start preparing, the more confident and successful they will be as they approach project deadlines and assessments. Reach out to teachers or counselors if you need any assistance or guidance.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Together, we can help our students excel in their academic journey and personal growth.
Best regards,
Dr. Dulce Barker

Strategic Plan Forums
As we work to develop the strategic goals that will guide our District over the next few years, we are in the process of collecting input from staff members, parents and students. In addition to the surveys sent out earlier this week, Judith Wilson, our Strategic Plan facilitator, will host virtual forums as another opportunity for input; however, no debates or decision-making will take place in the forums.
Parents can choose to participate in whichever forum works best for their schedule.
Tuesday, November 14, 2023 @ 10:30AM
Tuesday, November 14, 2023 @ 7:00PM
Dr. Lutinski will share the links to these forums in his Monthly Update on November 6th.
If you have not had the chance to complete the survey sent earlier this week, please do so by November 19th.
Bike Safety
We would like to remind you of some bike safety rules.
By law, all children ages 13 and under must wear a helmet while riding a bike. In Mamaroneck, bicycle riders must consider the safety of pedestrians on sidewalks (and must dismount and walk their bikes on Mamaroneck Avenue).
Unlike joggers, bicyclists should ride in the same direction as auto traffic while on the road.
Students must be mindful of how they are riding their bicycles while on our MS/HS campus. There are lots of staff, students and parents walking and many cars that are driving during arrival and dismissal.
Please review this New York State resource on Bike Safety. Please remember that all of us who use the roads, whether on foot, on a bike, or in a car, have to pay attention to each other to prevent physical injury.
