August 12th, 2024
🌞 Welcome to Ms. Kuhn's First Grade Class Newsletter! 🌞
Hello, wonderful parents and guardians! 🌟 We are off to an amazing start in Ms. Kuhn's first-grade class, and I am thrilled to share our weekly adventures with you. Let's dive into what we've been up to and what we will be working on this week! 📚✨
---
Last Week 🏫
Last week, we focused on learning our classroom rules and building a strong, supportive team. 🤝 The kids did a fantastic job understanding the importance of teamwork and how we can help each other succeed. We played fun games and activities that highlighted the value of working together. Go team! 🎉

This Week 📅
Here's a sneak peek at what we have planned for the rest of this week:
Phonics 🔤
We will be focusing on Short 'a' vowel sounds, rhyming, blending words, and high-frequency words.
Spelling words for the week: the, see, go, she, and. (No spelling test this week!)
Writing ✍️
We'll continue to use circle maps to help us organize our thoughts before writing. This helps our young writers structure their ideas clearly.
Reading 📖
Our focus will be on building genre knowledge with informational texts. We'll learn how to draw inferences and explore the text features of informational texts.
Math ➗
We will discuss how we can organize and represent information in our new class. This will be a fun way to integrate math with our daily classroom activities!

Things to Remember 📝
Encourage your child to practice their spelling words at home, even though there won't be a test this week.
Continue reading with your child every day to help them build their genre knowledge and comprehension skills.
Ask your child about the circle maps they create in class and how they help organize their thoughts.
---
Until Next Time! 🌈
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child's education. Together, we are creating a vibrant and engaging learning environment. Let's make this week as fantastic as the last! 🌟
Warm regards,
Ms. Kuhn
