Cornerstone AprilUpdate

Kindergarten registration has begun! Our Kick Off to Kindergarten event took place on April 11 where parents met Lintott Elementary staff AND Cornerstone staff and received all the registration materials they need to get their future kindergartener registered in the Chehalis School District.

Online kindergarten registration is now open. You can get started at this link. If you have someone attending Kindergarten in Chehalis this fall and you missed this Kick Off event, you can stop by the James Lintott office any school day before 4 p.m. to pick up your informational packet.

And don't forget about the Kindergarten Carnival on July 20! Families will play games and get resources and supplies to prepare for school. Then, Kindergarten Camp takes place on July 24 and 25. Campers will practice large motor skills like running and skipping; and fine motor skills like coloring and cutting with scissors. Learn more at the Cornerstone website using the link below:

In summer of 2023 the Chehalis School District launched a new program called Cornerstone with a goal to support families and help parents navigate the schools - and life, and find community resources to make the journey a little easier.

We have sponsored several events, and established some great relationships with parents in the Chehalis community. We want to evaluate our progress, and make plans to provide continued support - or even BETTER support for people in our community.

If you have attended a Cornerstone event, or know about a family who has been supported by Cornerstone staff, we want to hear from you. If you have ideas, or need support we haven't yet provided, we want to hear from you too!

In our first year of operation, Cornerstone has attempted to establish relationships with families so that students are prepared for the journey ahead. Below are some strategies we've tried to focus on, and activities we've sponsored:

Our hope is that Washington Student Achievement Council will provide funding for another year of support in the Chehalis community. With fingers crossed, we are making plans for Cornerstone in the 2024-25 school year.
