For the 2024-2025 school year, each family will be required to complete the following two important steps for each of their students: Residency Verification & Data Confirmation.
Residency Verification
The Walnut Creek School District is diligent in assuring that all students who attend our schools live within the boundaries of the school district, or hold a valid Interdistrict transfer. State law requires that public schools verify student residency within the school district (CA Education Code 48204.1). Every family enrolled in the Walnut Creek School District is required to provide residency verification as outlined below annually.
Each school will be hosting an in person Welcome Back Day in which all families will be asked to reverify their residency in person. This is required for all new students and returning students in grades preschool - 8th.
All required documents must be presented at the Welcome Back Days for each individual school site. During this time, families will be required to bring four (4) documents as listed below. All documents must include the parent/guardian name, resident address and a current date. Please bring the originals and one copy of each to submit. You will also be required to sign a residency affidavit. You can print one HERE or you can sign one at the time of verification.
- One (1) Identification Document
- One (1) Document from Group 1
- Two (2) Documents from Group 2
Shared Residency Affidavit: If you are filing a Shared Residency Affidavit, it must be notarized and accompanied by the above required documents reflecting the property owner's name and address.
Interdistrict Transfer: If you do not live within our boundaries, you can visit the Interdistrict Transfers page on our District website for more information on the transfer process.
If you do not fit these requirements, or have a sensitive living situation, contact Brenda Hunter (bhunter@walnutcreeksd.org) to discuss how we can accommodate your living situation.
Data Confirmation
All parents of students entering preschool through 8th grade must verify and update student information (phone numbers, emergency contacts, etc.). Parents complete updates online through their Aeries Parent Portal. This process will go live on Wednesday, July 24th.
