Hello, Longwood Families!
π§ͺ Thank You, PTA & classroom Volunteers!
A huge shoutout to our amazing PTA for coordinating outstanding science-themed classroom parties! β SPRING BREAK SCIENCE FUN β
The Longwood PTA was awarded grant funding for a STEM Science Fair. We were able to host classroom science parties to kick off Spring Break with our students and parent volunteers. We also are able to send home supplies that will allow you and your student to enjoy science experiments at home. They may be a bit messy, but also will be a lot of fun!
π§ͺMentos & Soda Reaction: Search YouTube for βDanny Go Mentos + Diet Coke Explosionβ or http://bit.ly/43Ay25l Do different drinks react in unique ways? Test your explosion with different amounts of soda and different numbers of mentos - my a guess and track your success!
πTornado in a Bottle: Search YouTube for βWild Adventure Girls + Tornado Tubeβ or https://bit.ly/4bE1klq Add different colors, glitter or even soap to your tornado and see how it changes! (PS - Your empty soda bottles can be used to make a tornado)
We hope you enjoy your Spring Break Science Experiments at home!
If you would like to learn more and get involved with the Longwood PTA to support projects and learning opportunities like this one, please send a note to longwoodpta204@gmail.com. We canβt carry on without family support, is it your time to lend a hand?
πΌ College and Career Day β Volunteers Needed! π
On Friday, April 11th we will host our annual College and Career Day!
This event inspires our students to think about their future goals and introduces them to the many pathways available after high school.
- Volunteers will share a 10-15 minute presentation with individual classes about their college, career, or company. Students in grades K-5 will participate. Additional FAQs Here
- The event will run from 8:30-2:30pm on Friday, April 11th. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. We know your time is valuable, so if all day is not an option, we are happy to coordinate your visit at a time that works best for you.
Volunteers, please complete the College & Career Day RSVP form
2025-2026 Club Hub & Childcare
The Club Hub program is ending as scheduled on June 30 of this year after 5 years, $1.5 million in funding and 778 Georgetown and Longwood students served. When planning childcare services for the 2025-2026 school year, we regret that Club Hub will not be an option for our families.
While Indian Prairie intends to apply for a new 21ST Century grant in the future, there is no news from the state about when the application will be available. We will look for other funding possibilities as well. Thank you for your support of Club Hub over the years!
There are a variety of childcare providers in our area that provide transportation to and from Longwood. The Longwood YMCA has also added a few additional spots for students for the 25-26 school year. See link below for contact information.
Dear Families,
Regular attendance is key to student success! Missing just two days a month can add up to 18 days in a school yearβnearly 10% of the school year!
π Plan Ahead: Schedule family vacations, medical appointments, and other activities outside of school hours whenever possible.
β° Rest & Recharge: Use Spring Break (March 31st - April 4th) as an opportunity to rest and recharge! Resuming bedtimes and morning routines the weekend before we return on April 7th ensures students are well-rested and ready to learn.
π‘ Letβs Work Together: If your child is experiencing difficulty with attendance due to transportation, illness, or other challenges, weβre here to help. Contact 630-428-6789
Thank you for your partnership in making attendance a priorityβtogether, we can help every student succeed!
