E-Safety
How do you keep safe online? There is a lot of information online and not all is safe for children.
Talk with your son/daughter about E-safety.
Social Networking
Social Networking sites make it easy to be creative online, keep in touch with friends and make use of videos, photos, music, and chat all in the same place.
- Always check your privacy settings to protect your privacy and yourself from strangers.
- Get your friends and family to check that you aren’t giving out too much personal information or posting inappropriate photos/films because they might see something you’ve missed.
- Keep your passwords to yourself.
- Respect yourself and others online.
- If you have a bad experience online report it to the service provider and tell an adult.
- Cyberbullying is NEVER acceptable. If you or someone you know is targeted by bullies online:
- Report the bully to the website/service operator.
- Keep evidence of the bullying behavior.
- Resist the temptation to reply to nasty messages.
- Tell an adult.
Personal Profiles
If you have a public profile anyone can see it but not everyone online is trustworthy. Personal information like your date of birth, your address, your mobile phone number and some photos are best kept offline.
Images and Videos Online
Photos and video are an important part of many websites. Always think before you post. Images stay online forever and can be copied, changed and used elsewhere.
If you wouldn’t be happy for your class teacher to see your social media photos then you should edit your profile. When you post something online, you are posting it on the biggest screen in the world to billions of people!
Digital Footprint
What you post online can be seen by lots of people and might stay online forever. They are like digital footprints – a trail that people can follow, picking up pieces of information about you.
We all leave digital footprints and with every new profile, photo or comment we add new ones. Even people you don’t know can learn a lot from them.
Your footprints can show you at your very best or very worst.
Contacting Social Media Sites if Someone has Posted Something Upsetting About You
Most websites have a way for you to ask them to remove videos, pictures, comments or profiles – that upsets you. Making a report doesn’t mean the content will definitely be removed. Websites have a set of rules which they expect people using their site to obey.
If you want to have something taken down from a site you should check to see if it breaks one of their rules (also known as Community Standards or Guidelines).
Before using any website you should read them to learn what is and isn’t, acceptable on the site. You should also learn how to report content to the site.
Remember, that to use any of these sites you need to be at least 13 years old. If you're under 13 and someone has posted something about you get an adult to help you report it.
Here’s where to find the rules and how to report for the most popular social networks and messaging apps:

Bullying & Cyberbullying
Bullying
Texas Education Code (TEC) §37.0832 identifies bullying as a single significant act or a pattern of acts by one or more students directed at another student that exploits an imbalance of power and involves engaging in written or verbal expression, expression through electronic means, or physical conduct and that
- has the effect or will have the effect of physically harming a student, damaging a student's property, or placing a student in reasonable fear of harm to the student's person or of damage to the student's property;
- is sufficiently severe, persistent, or pervasive enough that the action or threat creates an intimidating, threatening, or abusive educational environment for a student;
- materially and substantially disrupts the educational process or the orderly operation of a classroom or school, or infringes on the rights of the victim at school.
Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying is bullying that involves the use of any electronic communication device, including through the use of a cellular or other type of telephone, a computer, a camera, electronic mail, instant messaging, text messaging, a social media application, an Internet website, or any other Internet-based communication tool.
Bulldogs Take A Stand
The Everman Independent School District is committed to providing a positive learning environment for all students that enhances personal safety and promotes respect, dignity, and fairness among students. High standards are expected for both academic achievements and for behavior.
EISD strives to ensure that all of its students and employees are free from bullying, sexual harassment, and dating violence. All charges of bullying, sexual harassment, and dating violence are to be taken very seriously by students, faculty, staff, administration, and parents/guardians. EISD will make every effort to handle and respond to every charge and complaint filed by students and employees in a fair, thorough, and just manner. Every effort will be made to protect the due process rights of all victims and all alleged perpetrators.
It is important for each student to report any bullying or threats to the nearest assistant principal or principal at school as soon as possible so school officials may take appropriate action.
Other Important Information
ID Badges
All students have been issued an ID Badge now.
It is a District requirement for all students to wear badges daily.
Students are expected to wear ID badges on a lanyard at all times in the building.
Tips for Students and Parents to remember ID Badges:
Keep ID Badge on a Lanyard
Do not deface/destroy badge
When you get home, keep your backpack and ID badge by the door you leave in the morning for school. Place the ID badge in a backpack pocket or loop it around the backpack strap to remember to put it on each morning before entering the school building.
We want students to remember their ID badges daily. In the Second Six Weeks on September 23rd, we will start issuing temporary ID badges and replacement ID badges for students who have forgotten/lost/defaced/destroyed their ID badge.
Fees for ID Badges - Starting on Monday, September 23rd
Temporary ID Badge Cost: $2.00 charge (a sticker issued for a temporary replacement)
Replacement ID Badge Cost: $5.00 charge (a replacement badge)
