Message from the Principal
Wildcat Families,
We’re starting to kick into high gear here at CFT as teachers are now providing instruction to help students meet our high expectations for both positive behavior and academic learning. I’ve visited many classrooms this week and have seen great student discussions specifically related to math, where students share how they’ve solved a problem and classmates then share their agreement or disagreement to modify the response. It’s exciting to see such active thinkers throughout our school!
With September being Attendance Awareness Month, I’d like to share that our student attendance to date this year is 95.96%, meaning that almost 96% of our students are at school everyday. That is a great number and one that we should all be proud of. Thanks for making coming to school a priority! Kicking off in a few weeks, we’ll celebrate with the Golden Clock award to the class with the highest attendance during September. It’s a really close race so far with our 2nd grade classes in the lead. There’s still plenty of time to get those numbers up close to 100% in the next couple weeks.
On Thursday morning, 9/26, I’ll be hosting Coffee with the Principal from 9:00-10:30 here in our library. Coffee with the Principal provides an opportunity for me to get to know you a little bit better, for us to get your input on school-related situations and for you to ask questions or share about your experience as a parent. At this meeting, I’ll be asking for your input about our CFT School-Family-Student Compact, which needs to be updated to capture your voice and experience. In addition, we’ll save time for questions. I hope you can make plans to join me.
Logistically, there are a couple of items that we still need your help and support with. Morning arrival and parent drop off continues to be heavily congested. We’ve noticed that some families have started to pull into our bus lane to drop off students in the morning to avoid the backup in our parent drop-off area. Unfortunately, our bus lanes need to remain clear for both buses and emergency vehicles throughout the day. Although it may take slightly longer, we need all parent drop off traffic to pull through our northeast parking lot, dropping students off on the sidewalk, then continuing to move forward. Families who need to stop for extended periods need to park at the Broadway Rose Theater and walk over to the front entry with students. To keep traffic moving, the parent drop off area is provided for a quick student exit to the sidewalk, where adults will greet students at the door. We appreciate your cooperation with this.
Enjoy your weekend!
Sincerely,
Tim, Principal
Mensaje del Director
Familias Wildcat,
Atentamente,
Tim, Director

Hispanic Heritage Celebration
Your feeder schools are excited to invite you to our Hispanic Heritage Celebration in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15, 2024. The celebration will be held at Fowler Middle School on October 16, 2024, from 5 PM to 8 PM, we're aiming to make this year’s event even more memorable than the last!
Last year’s celebration was filled with incredible dishes shared by our families and generous contributions from local Tigard businesses. It was a true community effort, with collaboration from CFT, MWW, MET, FMS and THS, We're hoping to build on that success this year. We would love to see more families share a dish from their culture, though it’s completely optional.
As we continue to organize this event, we’re welcoming the support of parents and local businesses. Your participation—whether it’s through contributing a dish, donating, or simply attending—will help make this celebration a wonderful reflection of our diverse community.
Thank you in advance for being part of this special event. Your feeder schools can’t wait to celebrate with you all!
