February 2025 Newsletter

February 2025
Dear North Point Middle School Families,
We are preparing to communicate to all NPMS families about explo choices for the 2025-2026 school year for all current sixth and seventh-grade students. Please make sure that you are watching the video we will send you with your child, looking at the elective descriptions, and have your child submit their choices through Focus in advance of the March deadline. Any questions that you have can be answered by members of our counseling and administration staff.
If your child is currently in eighth grade, please make sure that you plan to attend the Family Night planned at NPHS on Wednesday, February 5, from 6-8 p.m. This event will include general information, an opportunity to meet the NPHS administrators, and an activity fair to introduce you and your child to ways to be involved in high school activities.
February is the month of love and our NJHS and STUCO are both hosting drives this month to show how much we love our community.
NJHS is sponsoring a food drive from February 3 -14. They will be collecting cans and boxes of food as well as monetary donations that will be used to buy food for St. Joachim and Ann’s food pantry. This is a competition for teams to collect the most food. First place core class who donates the most gets a donut party.
The most needed items are:
Canned chicken
Canned meat meals
Kids cereal
Pop tarts
Crackers
Jelly/honey
Box dinner meals
Sloppy joe sauce
STUCO will be collecting personal care items to benefit the Salvation Army Safe Haven Shelter. This will take place from February 3 - 21. There will be a box in first core class teachers' classrooms for students to place items.
The following items are needed:
-Male Undergarments (Adult and Children)
-Female Undergarments (Adult and Children)
-Shampoo
-Conditioner
-Soap/Body Wash
-Deodorant
-Toothpaste
-Toothbrushes
-Feminine Hygiene Products
-Lotion
-Chapstick
-Wet Wipes
They cannot accept Razors or Mouthwash
There will be holding a challenge for the top class, and top team. Whoever donates the most will earn a sweet treat!
Any interested 8th grade athletes should plan to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, February 4 before school in the library at 7:15 a.m. If they are interested in joining the NPMS Track and Field Team, the team needs runners, jumpers, and throwers to join us for an exciting and fun season. If you've never participated in these events, that's okay! All are welcome to join the track team and learn what events you might love competing in. If you are willing to work hard and have a great time learning how to be your best, come join us.
Before the end of the school year, we will have iReady testing on April 9 and 16 and MAP testing during the weeks of April 28 and May 5. Any efforts that you can make to avoid your child being absent on those dates helps us by not having to pull them from class to make up these assessments. All students will need wired headphones for these upcoming tests as well.
It's a great day to be a Grizzly!
As always, let us know what we can do to support you and your child.

Inclement Weather and AMI Update
Thank you for your flexibility as we used two traditional snow days and three AMI (alternative methods of instruction) days following our first big weather event of the season. We're incredibly grateful to our dedicated maintenance, custodial, and transportation teams for their round-the-clock efforts in moving the snow and preparing our schools for students to return.
In case you missed it, this email contains a helpful reminder of our snow day schedule and process for the year. Though our current Academic Calendar has the last day of school set for May 30, with this plan, students could get out earlier. The official last day of school will not be changed until we are well through snow season to avoid multiple revisions. You can reference the image above to see an update of where we are in the schedule.
Wentzville Wow Factor Award
Has your child's teacher made a significant impact on their education and life? Do you want to recognize a staff member who goes above and beyond? The WSD rolled out a new way to honor our staff, and it only takes a few minutes to do. Nominate a teacher or employee for a Wentzville Wow Factor Award anytime throughout the school year to let them know they are making a difference! Nominate a Staff Member.
Become a School Lunch Hero
A hungry child cannot learn. Our School Lunch Hero program aims to ensure no child leaves the cafeteria hungry. Donate to our Lunch Hero program to help WSD families struggling to keep up with paying for school breakfast and lunch. Parents and staff who have set up LunchTime accounts:
* You will see an option for "items, Fees, & Invoices"
* Click on that and "select" School Lunch Heroes
* Type in the donation amount and click "Add to Cart"
* Process payment as you normally would

Math help is also offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students do not need to sign up in advance to take advantage of this opportunity, but they do need to have a ride home at 3:30 p.m.
