Parent Edition - February 16th, 2025
Parent Involvement
We are so thankful for our strong parental involvement at Ross. Our evening events are well attended, our families are actively involved in their child(ren)'s academics, and we have a strong support system through our AMAZING PTO. Our PTO works together to ensure that our mission is fulfilled and that our staff are cared for and appreciated. Our PTO is in desperate need of volunteers for next year. I urge you to simply reach out to our PTO President, Mrs. Marlo Hendricks, with any wonderings/questions you may have. Her email is: rosselemptopres@gmail.com Our children and community need a strong PTO. Thank you in advance for even considering!

5th Grade Families Only
In Parkway, we're fortunate to partner with Mental Health America of Eastern Missouri, who offers the Student Wellness Program for students in grades 5 - 12. This is an optional, free program, but it is a great opportunity to get a "mental health check-up" for your child, just like we visit the pediatrician to get a physical health check-up. If you are interested in this program for your 5th grade child, please see this link for more information and to register: Student Wellness Program Letter. Please note that at this time, this program is only offered for 5th graders. If you have any questions, please reach out to our 5th grade counselor, Lisa Bayer, via phone or email: 314-415-6708, lbayer1@parkwayschools.net
A Note From Our Nurse
The peak of cold and flu season is upon us, and we have been experiencing a noticeable increase in illness. Many students are currently suffering from the flu, stomach viruses, or other respiratory illnesses. To help prevent widespread flu and illness in the school, it is recommended that your child stay home if they experience flu and illness symptoms. Below are some guidelines to help you decide to keep your child(ren) home. Consider keeping your child home for an extra day of rest if: Very stuffy or runny nose and/or cough. Mild sore throat. Headache. Mild stomachache. Definitely keep your child home if: Fever (greater than 100 degrees by mouth). Vomiting (even once). Diarrhea. Chills or body aches. Extreme exhaustion. Congested (wet) or croupy cough. Shortness of breath. Remember that your child must be fever, vomit, and diarrhea free for 24 hours without medications before he/she can return to school.
