Valley High School Update
Demonstrating the Valley Standard in the 4 A's-9/17/21
Valley updates for the week of 9/20-9/24
Academics
Monday will be an ODD block day.
IDs and masks are necessary to enter the building, and IDs to go through the lunch lines. It makes it easier to have IDs out and ready to show when entering the building or cafeteria.
Just a reminder that after 8:20 AM, all doors lock and students and visitors will need to come through the North Main Entrance.
Starting Sunday, students are able to sign up for Encore seminars. Some students might be drafted into seminars if a teacher believes additional help is needed to guarantee success. Please make sure to read the description of the seminar!
Please make a good habit of attending classes! Valley's School Improvement Goal for attendance is 90% of our students are in attendance 90% of the time. This means in a 180 day school year, students will be absent no more than 9 times in a semester, or approximately two days per month.
Another component of Valley's School Improvement Plan is increasing the number of students who earn a 2.8 Grade Point Average. 2.8 is identified as a reliable GPA for post-secondary success.
For parents interested in better understanding Canvas and how it works, there is a meeting called Managing Your Parent Account in Canvas on Monday, September 20 from 6:30-8:00 PM, at the Learning Resource Center. Parents can register here
Arts
Please pay close attention to this message board as we are getting closer to the Fall concert series featuring our Band, Vocal Music and Orchestra classes.
Activities
The Club and Activity Fair is coming in September! Make sure to keep your eyes open to reserve a table or get involved with a club or activity.
The Comfort Care Initiative is accepting donations for young women who have experienced sexual assault or trauma. Currently, the greatest needs are deodorant, hair brushes/combs/hair ties, feminine hygiene products, body lotions, shampoos and conditioner. Donations can be delivered to the box in front of Student Services.
Picture retakes will be Thursday, September 23rd from 8:00 AM-10:00 AM in the Performing Arts Center.
For Sophomores who wish to drive to school, the Church Lot is now full and no hang tags will be issued. If a sophomore signed up prior to September 17th, they may still come down and get their hang tag.
Homecoming is almost here!! In order for students to attend the dance, they must request a ticket. Below is the process to request a ticket:
