December 2024
It’s hard to believe we’re nearing the end of another year—December always seems to fly by! From December 2-6, we’ll be celebrating Inclusive Schools Week, and this month in guidance, we’ll focus on embracing differences and building empathy.
I’m incredibly grateful to be part of the Braun Station community. We are so fortunate to have amazing students, dedicated teachers, supportive staff, and an incredible network of families. It’s truly a privilege to work with your children and families. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful and meaningful holiday season!
5th Grade Transition
Cat Camp for all 5th graders will take place on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 9:00 to 11:45 a.m., and is for students only. Students will also have lunch at the school before returning.
The window for course selection opens in December. 5th grade students will select their classes for the 2025-2026 school year in HAC during their classroom guidance time. Students will have to choose which ELA, Math, and Fine Arts elective they will be taking.

Merry Christmas, Bobcats!
This is a short 3 weeks of school month but it is FULL of learning! Take a look at what you Bobcat(s) are covering during these 3 weeks.
Kindergarteners are finishing up their number sense and concepts 0-10 and exploring data analysis to 10.
1st Graders are learning money concepts to 99 cents and addition and subtraction strategies to 20.
2nd Graders are in the heart of their addition and subtraction unit with 2 digit numbers.
3rd Graders are learning all the ways to represent fractions with a 2, 3, 4, 6, or 8 as the denominator/the number of equal pieces in a whole.
4th Graders are finishing up their whole numbers unit with all four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). Then they began their fractions unit.
5th Graders are deep within their fractions unit with all four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
Like I said, there's A LOT of learning that occurs within these 3 weeks and a lot of fun!
I hope you and your family have an incredible Christmas break!

PBIS December Focus: Celebrating Kindness and Inclusivity
December is a month of joy, togetherness, and reflection. In addition to spreading kindness, we’re thrilled to celebrate Inclusive Schools Week as part of our PBIS focus. This special week highlights the importance of creating welcoming, supportive, and equitable school environments for all. Let’s work together to build a community where everyone feels valued and included!
Recognizing Acts of Kindness and Inclusivity
Bobcat P.R.I.D.E. Wall: This month, we’re honoring students who demonstrate kindness and inclusive attitudes. These standout Bobcats will be celebrated on our P.R.I.D.E. Wall as role models who foster a welcoming and positive environment for everyone.
Parent’s Corner: EncouragingKindness and Inclusivity at Home
Thank you, parents, for partnering with us to promote kindness and inclusivity! Here are some ways to bring these values into your home during the holiday season:
Acts of Kindness: Encourage your family to spread kindness this season by reaching out to a neighbor, sharing holiday cheer with someone in need, or brightening someone’s day with a thoughtful gesture.
Inclusivity Conversations: Take time to discuss with your children what inclusivity means and why it’s important. Share stories or examples of how welcoming others can make a difference.
Celebrating November Successes: Positive Behavior Wins
In November, 13 classrooms earned the Cafeteria Movie Reward for demonstrating outstanding Bobcat P.R.I.D.E., enjoying a fun 30-minute movie with snacks!
A big shoutout to Mr. Rodriguez, Mrs. Grimes, Mrs. Coble, Ms. Olvera, Mrs. Garanzuay, and Mrs. Macias’ classes for winning the Golden Broom and Golden Spoon Awards for their cleanliness and respect in the cafeteria.
Thank you, parents and staff, for supporting PBIS and fostering a culture of gratitude and respect. Way to go, Bobcats!
STEM Education
YEE-HAW! We will be wrangling up scientists for our Digital Science Fair! If you like science experiments and want to participate in this year’s Digital Science Fair- then be on the lookout this month so you can sign up for our upcoming showdown leading up to STEM night in February.
Although a short month in the STEM lab, here is what we are learning about during our Discovery Time:
Kindergarten Civil Engineers are learning all about bridges, roads and testing the strength of different types of bridges.
First Graders are practicing lab skills that Environmental Engineers need to check our water quality. Be on the lookout for plants coming home as we dig deep into our soil quality.
Second and Third Grade Engineers are practicing their coding skills while applying it to the world of robotics. ‘ Tis the season to let it code, let it code, let it code!
Fourth and Fifth graders are solving problems using 3D printing. Using Problem Based Learning, the classes are looking for things around the school that need improving and are working in teams to research, design and print. I cannot wait to share more details of their projects and hard work.
As always, thank you for your continued support for our STEM program. The progress and learning we are doing here is invaluable. I am on the hunt for empty toilet paper tubes! Please send any you may have this month. Students can drop them outside my door in the morning. The last time I asked for toilet paper rolls was 4 years ago! That’s right! The donations I received lasted me 4 years! Let’s see if we can match that record!

Art Adventures
Bobcat Artists have been working hard on their tree ornaments in the art room. They have created two ornaments- one to donate to our display of trees and the other to take home. Those trees will be available for viewing at Braun Station during the choir performance and through the month of December. I am so proud of the hard work and generosity of our young artists. We look forward to our next creative art experiences as we prepare for our annual art show in February. Happy Holidays!
Bobcat Music
December is here and what a joyous time it will be for us with our Bobcats!
Our Bobcat Choir will be making some appearances within our community this month. First will be our campus performance for our Bobcats on Monday, December 9th. That same evening, we will be performing at the Stevenson Middle School Choir concert at Crossroads Baptist Church at 6:00 p.m.
Next, you do not want to not miss Tuesday December 10th at our PTA meeting. You will be so proud of our students! Also, our 5th Grade Strings students will be performing before the PTA meeting!
I hope everyone will have a wonderful Christmas, celebrate the New Year, and be ready for the adventures that 2025 will bring!
