Principal's Message
Over the last three weeks of school, students worked hard to learn routines in classrooms, hallways, and the cafeteria. Students are also busy learning new skills for the beginning of their grade level. Please help students to be at school every day and on time! When students have the opportunity for practice and review of new skills, learning sticks! We are focused on helping students to master grade level skills so they can reach their full potential this year! Thanks for partnering with us to help your child succeed. Tutoring is offered every morning from 7:00-7:30 in the classroom if students need extra help.
Parent Engagement Opportunity
Daily Schedule
Students are able to eat breakfast daily beginning at 7:00 a.m. Breakfast doors close promptly at 7:20 a.m. to ensure students can eat breakfast and arrive in class by 7:30 a.m. to begin instruction.
Morning Drop Off
First Week of School-Morning Arrival
Student safety is of upmost importance at morning drop off. When dropping students off in the drive through lanes closes to the school, students are only permitted to be let out of the passenger side of the car by the sidewalk in front of the school or in the second lane on the island. Do not let your students out of the vehicle if you are in the middle or passing lane.
Thank you for abiding by our morning drop off procedures to ensure the safety of students. Morning drop off traffic is busiest from 7:20-7:30. If you would like to avoid busy drop off times, please plan for dropping off students between 7:00 and 7:15.
Morning Student Drop-Off Procedures:
• The front two traffic lanes are for student drop-off ONLY. Do not leave your vehicle unattended in either of these lanes. Please pull as far to the east end of the drop-off lanes as possible before stopping to unload.
• Parents who wish to walk their student(s) to the front doors must park in the lower parking lot. Parking is not permitted in either drop-off lane. Students must not be dropped off in the lower parking lot. Dropping off students in the parking lot creates an unsafe situation for your child and others.
Dismissal Procedures
Dismissal Procedures:
• All teachers will dismiss students by dropping students off to buses, YMCA, daycare, and escorting students to the front of the building for parent pick-up.
• All teachers will check parent I.D. 100% of the time daily to ensure student safety.
Changes in afternoon pick-up arrangements must be made in writing and sent to the teacher at the beginning of the day. This is a security measure: Changes by telephone do not allow for proper identification and place the safety of your child at-risk. Changes during the day create classroom interruptions.
Only people listed on your child’s registration card are authorized to pick-up your child.
Lunch
Parents are not permitted to attend breakfast with students. Our first priority is ensuring all students eat breakfast and get to class on time. There is not enough space in the cafeteria for parents during breakfast to ensure an efficient process for feeding students quickly.
Parent visitors at lunch will not be allowed until the week of October 2nd due to increased enrollment and students' learning lunchroom procedures,
Killeen ISD will provide free breakfast to all students during the 2023-2024 school year.
