A BIG congratulations to Coach Tran and the Lady Bulldogs, 16 teams started off this season learning a game with a little bit different rules. A loss in their first game was their only loss as they rolled there after, looking forward to next season and what is to come!

Jeff Hawthorne, AT at YMLA is the 2022 recipient of The Jim Pippin Memorial Award. Jeff has gone above and beyond for the past two years assisting the district in addition to his school to ensure that the student athletes of FWISD are well covered and taken care of. We appreciate the time and effort Jeff has dedicated to the department of athletics.

Tarrant County Back to School Round Up IS BACK!
The event provides school children and their families with FREE school supplies and other “back to school essentials” necessary to return to school ready, and equipped, for a successful academic year pre-k through 12th grade. The Roundup is a collaborative effort between Tarrant County, the county’s 20 school districts, the City of Fort Worth, public health department, state agencies, non-profit organizations, corporations and volunteers. In the past they had health check ups and provided glasses for students who needed them as well.

WHEN: Friday, August 5
TIME: 8am - 2pm (Opening ceremony begins at 7:30AM)

Our Wide Receiver Football skills camp was hosted at our campus by Receiver School LLC. It was a 2 day camp and had over 25 athletes participate in this skills camp.
Good turn out for Skills Camp this morning. It was great to see the athletes putting in the hard work!

Every Tuesday The LTAC Program partners up with South Hills Football Program to build and develop our young men.

PHS Lady Panther Basketball team continue to go strong in off season conditioning and open gym under the leadership of Rock Magis and Ivy Beasley.
Our scholar athletes are also putting their heads together to think-tank ideas and help with preparations for basketball camp this June 6 – 8.

Special Olympics
7 FWISD athletes, from 3 different high schools, competed in the Special Olympics Summer Games in San Antonio, May 12-15. They competed against athletes from all over the state and came home with several medals. Lt to Rt in team photo: Martin Vasquez (Diamond Hill Jarvis HS) Gold in Softball Throw and Bronze in 50 Meter Run; Sabei'yon Shepherd (Southwest HS) Gold in 100 Meter Run and Silver in Long Jump; Jennifer Bell (Southwest HS) Gold in 100 Meter Run and Silver in Softball Throw; Daniel Tinoco (South Hills HS) Gold in Shot Put and 5th in 100 Meter Run; Jesus DeLeon (South Hills HS) 5th in Shot Put; and Roberto Quevedo (Diamond Hill Jarvis HS) Gold in Softball Throw and Bronze in 100 Meter Run. These athletes represented their high schools and FWISD well.

Coach Sonya Lee earned her Master of Arts Sports Management on Thursday, May 12, 2022, from Dallas Baptist University.
Wedgwood MS
Isabella Sancen was recognized at the Board Meeting on Tuesday night as the Wedgwood Female Scholar Athlete! Isabella played 4 sports as a 7th grader and 4 sports as an 8th grader and has a 3.9 gpa. We are so proud of her and her accomplishments in the classroom and in athletic competition.
