Vision of a Graduate Parent Focus Group
All parents are invited to attend a focus group to provide feedback to aid in the district's development of our Vision of a Graduate. This will take place at 5:30pm in the Eli Whitney School library. Eli Whitney is located at 94 Middle Road. We hope that you will consider joining us and providing feedback to support the development of this important district vision.
Literacy Night
Thank you to everyone who came out for our literacy night on 3/6. We had a great turnout and were happy to share the evening with all of you! Thank you to the Enfield Public Library for their support! We had over 200 people join us for an evening celebrating literacy!
PAWS Time
During PAWS Time on Thursday, March 7th, HMS students listened to the book “The Fort,” written by Laura Perdew and read by Eli Whitney Counselor Mrs. Short! Classes discussed examples of this month’s theme, cooperation, that they noticed in the story. Then students created rocket ships modeled after the fort in the book.
Report Cards
Report cards were emailed home on Friday, 3/8. If you did not receive your report, please first check your junk or spam folder to see if it ended up there. If you did not receive it, please contact the office and we will make sure that you receive a copy.
HMS PAWSitive ImPACKt Awards
Every Friday, our teachers nominate students and staff who have gone the extra mile to display our PAWS expectations. This week, we recognized Morgan (19), Tate (11), Ellie (10), Honey (10), Noah (11), Room 13, Shawn (8), Leo (8), Maxwell (K2), Leeanna (8), Eivin (13), Talan (K4), Oaklyn (K4), Daniel (18), Skylar (20), Mrs. Wisnesky, and Jaxon (20) for their hard work! Keep up the great work everyone!
We filled our bucket!!
Congratulations to Rooms 10, K2, 8, 18, and K1 who filled their classroom buckets this week!
Keep up the great work! We have many classrooms who are close to filling their buckets and know that all of our HMS students will keep working hard showing our PAWS expectations every day! When classrooms fill their buckets, they earn a class reward. Some examples of rewards we have seen so far this year: PJ day, Stuffed Animal Day, Fort Day, and extra recess.

Important iPad Information Regarding YouTube
Some families have inquired about ways to block YouTube on their child's iPad. If you would like YouTube blocked on your child's iPad, please fill out the survey below. It may take approximately one week for the settings to go into effect after the survey is completed. Please note, if you choose to disable YouTube on your child's device, they will not be able to access any teacher assigned videos that may be used in their classroom.
Cold Weather Update
As the weather begins to get colder, please make sure that your child is wearing clothing appropriate for playing outside at recess such as coats, hats, and gloves. Please help us in making sure that your child is able to enjoy recess time with their class by ensuring that they have appropriate dress to be outside in colder temperatures.
Reminders from the Nurse
A few reminders about our school health protocols for when children should not attend school.
1. Students are always sent home from school with a temperature greater than 100 degrees, active diarrhea or vomiting, or a suspected contagious disease.
2. Students must be without fever, vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school.
If you have any questions about particular issues or protocols for students who should or should not attend school, Nurse Lynn is happy to answer those for you! She can be reached at 860-763-7502 or LPyrcz@enfieldschools.org.
Thank you for your help in helping us stay healthy!
